Canada/New England Cruise - Formal Wear

DH and I are taking a 15 night Canada/New England cruise in May on the Maasdam. There are four formal nights and I'm wondering how 'formal' will formal be on this itinerary. We both quite enjoy getting dressed up for those special nights, and I'm sure hubby won't be out of place in his tux (which he says is comfortable to wear anyway). But will long dresses by out of place and/or in the minority ? Are short cocktail dresses more in line? I just don't know whether to pack a couple of long dresses or not.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks in advance, I know someone out there will have taken this type of cruise.

wear whatever makes you look and feel beautiful. comfort is a plus also.

one time on formal night I wore a girdle. mistake. felt so uncomfortable during the whole dinner that I never did that again. Plus I'm only 110 lbs so do I really need a girdle - NOT. I've learned my lesson.
