Personal favorite is the beach area just behind Nikki Beach Club on South Beach. It's where the channel connects to the ocean - really good views from there!

 

But you need to be there in early morning or late afternoon when the ships sail by.

I like to go to Monty Trainer's Raw Bar South Beach which sits aside the Miami Beach Marina. Watch the ships pass the Coast Guard Base while sipping a little brewski, munching some stone crab and conch fritters and let the kids play in their pool if so encumbered.

 

Ships arrive at zero dark hundred - before dawn typically. I'd see them on my way to work crossing the MacA causeway ... not something I'd want to get up for if on vacation.
