Lovers Beach

Meg there are water taxis at the dock where the tender drops you off that will take you there for a few dollars, and come back and pick you up when you tell them to. (Don't pay them until they come back for you). That way is a lot cheaper than the $20 p.p. ship tour.

We didn't have any planned for Cabo but it turned out to be an excellant

day. When you get off the ship there will be a bunch of guys trying

to sell tours. We paid $12 each for a ride on a glass bottom boat.

They took us around to see some brilliant schools of fish, some sea lions,

and all the architectual features of the famour arch. It was wonderful.

So you can get dropped off at the beach and picked up when you want

to. There is no dock for the beach so getting on and off the boat is

an adventure in itself. You'll have to jump off the boat into the water

which is only about a foot deep at that point but there are guys there

to help you off the boat. Of course they want a tip but it was pretty

fun. To get back on the boat you need them to give you a boast.

There are no facilities on the beach and no food. There is a guy

walking around selling drinks out of a cooler so be prepared.

Have a great time.

They are on opposite sides of Cabo San Lucas Bay. Here's the link to a map of Cabo, an arrow in the bottom right points to Lover's Beach, and Medano Beach is the stretch where the Melia and Bonito resorts are, you can see Medano marked in the bay area. Ship tenders drop off at the main dock at the entrance to the harbor, where the # 10 is, just a short sail out to the Arch and Lover's Beach:

How many people can fit in a water taxi? I'd like to go from the pier, have a peek of the Lover's Beach area and go straight to Medano Beach where the Mango Deck Beach Club is. Any idea of the cost per person? I pay the driver when he returns us back to the cruise ship pier?

Hey Susan, a fellow Canuk! We're not far from you near London.

The Cabo water taxis look like motor boats with awnings overhead, might hold about 10 people, not big enought to do any Salsa dancing in :-) Nancy Norris from the Singles Cruise Center does great port reviews, and she has a shot of one in her Cabo review, page 5, and the only shot we've ever seen of the tender dock, page 3, as well as other nice shots, here's the link:

We are planning to do the same as you, water taxi from the tender dock out to the Arch, and then over to Medano Beach or perhaps the shops in the plazas in the harbor. Cruises have posted that they went from the dock to Medano for $2 p.p. and also $3 p.p. one way, and C.C. member Mary Jane 771 posted that she arranged a deal for $3 return. The water taxis will take you to the Arch for an extra $5 to $10 total, depending on how long you want to cruise around the rocks. The ship tour to the Arch is $20 p.p.

If you get a water taxi to Lover's Beach, the reason you don't pay until he comes back to get you is that if he doesn't come back, you are stranded, there is no way to walk along the shore back, there is no shoreline. Maybe the cooler guy that Cat Girl mentioned would get you back, he'd have to have a boat there. Hey but what's the point of having a nice secluded beach if there's a cooler guy oggling you :-)) ... you'd have to behave! But you can pay the water taxi when you get to Medano Beach because there are lots of taxis to get you back to the tender dock, and you could also take a cab through town for $4.
