We just got back from the seven day itinerary on May 25th. We had a wonderful time on Fantasy, always do. We were disappointed that we couldn't tender in to HMC but the waves were a bit much.

Wonder if CCL would consider building a floating dock, much like you see on our southern hydro power lakes? This way, it would always be at deck 3 to get on and off. If there were three foot seas it would be one heck of a dock walk!

Something I would ask our future travelers. Please take a look at the ships radar mast on deck 13 where putt putt golf is. I could swear that the Fantasy's ships coins were on that mast. I couldn't find them this time (6th time on her) and asked at the desk. I think the purser thought I spoke in Klingon as I couldn't get an answer in seven days.

Some other observations. You should be able to download, for free, a .pdf of the ships "Fun times" for the current day on their Wi-Fi. Ours was stuck on May 3rd (we left on the 18th) and never updated. The news also was stuck on May 3, with the hockey semi-finals results, weeks old. You can click the link on the fun hub, on the free Wi-Fi and see "ships announcements". It was a page from November 2012!

I fear there was a computer server in drastic need of a reboot and it was above and beyond the pay grade of anyone on board. I take it the IT nerd doesn't sail.

The times listed day three as a formal night, it shouldn't have been, so everyone was pretty dressed up during the cruise.

When we were due to arrive at HMC the times said we were arriving in Nassau? On day six the menu in Lido is always American, and so said the times. Alas it was Italian so ate in the main dining room. Bet Freddy the Maître D never did find out why the Celebration dining room was SRO for lunch that day.

The DirectTV signal was lost on Tuesday so we saw their pong type screensaver until Friday night. The only thing on TV was the Lido and Forward cameras, and their DVD movie. Spiderman was great!

The shows in the Universe Lounge were excellent as were the comedy shows. For an all-inclusive, and they feed you it is not a bad way to go. You also get to meet the friendliest people in the world, the Carnival guests. :D

Hi all- I posted a month or so ago about working on a group cruise for some dance classes; Carnival finally assigned us our times and locations for the classes. It looks like a majority of our time is in Cat's Lounge. I have a hard time with the wide-angle takes on most of the pictures judging how many people can easily fit in there on the dance floor- can anyone give me a guesstimate on the square footage of the dance floor? I'm also wondering if anyone has ever seen some of those tables ever temporarily un-bolted to make more open space? Any personal pics would also rock! :)

Thank you again for the board's help!

I have mine at home somewhere. If I remember, I'll bring them in to the office and scan to a pdf and email them to you. It's the remembering thing that's difficult! :p

I always have problems uploading them. At least I used to when I used Webshots. Maybe Flikr will be more user-friendly.

And guess what?

I just booked another Fantasy cruise! Just off the phone with my PVP. Ridiculously low fare for a holiday sailing (leaving 9/1). Wasn't sure I could get off, since we get busy again around then, but partner said it was ok.

And the good news is I have at least one other joining me, so it really will be cheap. Sure, it's the same cruise I did in May, and it's "just" Nassau and Freeport, but who cares?

I'm sailing again!! :D

Join us NC...! We saw the same thing and booked it about 2 weeks ago. Are you doing another park and cruise hotel? Come on and join the roll call...

Hadn't even thought about it. I'm off work the Friday before (last long weekend before mini-tax-season cranks up). It's a holiday weekend and Charleston hotel prices are already high. I'll have to go do my research. Friend lives up in the mountains. Would hate for us both to have to pay to park at the pier; would cost nearly as much as the cruise.

I'd rather drive down early. Last October, I stayed at the Home2Suites. No shuttle, but if she drives down Sunday am, she could pick me up. No charge to leave the car during the cruise.

I posted in the Roll Call. Will continue this discussion over there.

Must email the Maitre'D and see if "my" assistant waiter is still on board. He better be!!

Here they are! Note that I included Every Single Insert with the daily sheet. I did not scan the little tear-off sheets, though. It was just too time-consuming. I'm supposed to be working you know!

I know Risa is back from her break as CD, so I don't know how much these change, if any, when there's been a substitute CD. It seemed as though these in May, with Hennie as CD, were just like the 5-day in October (except they had to do last-minute changes then because we missed Freeport due to Hurricane Sandy).

Anyway, this should give folks a very good idea what to expect for the AtSea-Nassau-Freeport-AtSea activities.

So glad to hear Risa is back! Met her last year and was impressed by her as the CD... honestly I rarely notice the CD but she made an impression PLUS she actually lives in Charleston!

Agreed!!!! Risa is my favorite cruise director. She is very down to earth and very approachable. She personally helped wheel my mother off the ship last April during disembarkation.

I rarely notice the CD either, unless he/she is really obnoxious (which is totally subjective!). I think she's a little scary. But she was dealing with Hurricane Sandy and the disruptions that caused on my B2B, so she really had her hands full.

Since I don't "do" a lot of the activities where the CD appears, I just don't notice them. I DO notice the announcements. My problem with Risa was that she speed-read them to the point that you really couldn't tell what it was she was encouraging you to do! Not that it matters to me, since I don't make my activities decisions based on what they encourage me to do (which usually involves extra charges to your S&S account). ;)

Alrighty then! And here I thought Fantasy had a huge group of Cruise Critic fans. :(

Then let me ask some specific questions.

Again, yes, I've sailed her twice, plus Elation and Fascination - but not since the major refurbishments.

Is there a bar at the Serenity area, or does one have to rely on wandering drink servers? I've looked at the deck plan. I don't see one there, but that doesn't mean one doesn't exist.

What are the hours of the Serenity area?

Are there attendants there full time? If I wanted to run up to the buffet and get some lemonade, or a mid-morning slice of pizza to hold me over until lunch time, is it possible to ask an attendant to watch my things or do I just need to be a typical Chair Hog and leave my towel & book on my chair while I make a quick trip to the buffet?

Do the bathrooms have a magnifying mirror? Love the one on Miracle. I had lasik surgery a few years ago and need one to do my makeup. Don't want to pack one if I don't need to.

Latest amenities in the bathroom? Seems my last few cruises all have had only a razor, toothpaste, some antacid stuff, and maybe a sample shampoo/conditioner.

Is the a/c controller the vent thing in the ceiling?

Are the public areas kept frigidly cold so that I'll need to bring a sweater and wrap or three to keep from freezing after a day in the sun?

Thanks.

I love Fantasy and have cruised on her 3 times, with 4 and 5 as a B2B coming up in September.

No, no bar in Serenity but its an easy walk up the stairs to the bar in the aft lido area, probably less than 20 ft.. lol close enough for me.

Serenity is open all hours. Has two hot tubs, which alternate when open at night for cleaning.

there is an attendant there most of the time. Lido Buffet is directly above you up the stairs so I don't think your a Chair hog just because you want a bite to eat. Mostly the Serenity area will be full mid day on sea days. I've never actually found it full.

No magnifying mirror. Yes, the ac is controlled by the thingy in the ceiling. I've never been cold indoors, cool yes, cold no. But then, I haven't needed a sweater since menopause. lol

things in the freebe basket are the same.

One thing, if your at all interested in the running/workings of the ship, take the Behind the Fun tour. It's awsome. You will need closed toe shoes.. no camera's or cell phones allowed. Book the first day, tour is usually the last Sea day.

Oh and bring those soft ear plugs. The shows are very loud to the point of pain. Also the music outside of the casino. My ears can't take it.

Well, I see you responded to my post from over three years ago!

I appreciate your input, but it turns out I've sailed her not just that 7-night cruise (from when she was first moved to Charleston) but a 5+7 B2B last October, the 5-nighter in May, and am booked for the same cruise in a few more weeks.

I've found that I rather like the old gal! ;)

I've found Serenity packed by about 9 am every day and stays that way. But since I'm an early riser, I'm usually done by about 11, if I do any real sunbathing at all. I do like to sit in the chair area and just read, but those are usually occupied (or full of clothing/books/towels) too.

And I've learned to bring my own magnifying mirror. Usually I have one of those little stick-on ones and then I forget to remove it (they're nice because they don't take up any of the very limited shelf space). I just bought a little one that has a folding stand so (hopefully) I can put it away somewhere and get it out when I need it (and won't leave this one behind!).

I did the Behind the Fun tour on my Miracle 12/2009 cruise. It was very informative. Really enjoyed it. Convinced me, though, that I'll never use my free laundry perk! No way are any of my clothes going in those gigantic industrial machines!

I am booked in rooms OV U185 and Interior U187.

My question is i noticed that there is a hallway behind the Interior rooms where the little small rooms are accessed.

Do the large interior rooms and the OV rooms doors face each other/share the common hall? We are traveling with my daughter and grandson and hope that they are.

Thanks

So, any recent Fantasy cruisers out there? Did Tim the Magician ever return? My waiter said he was just on his break but I never see any mention of him.

I must email the Maitre'D and keep my fingers crossed that "my" waitstaff will still be on the ship in another month!

Ok I have a question?

I really am not into the ports, but we are taking my very well behaved 2 year old grandson Sept 26th. I would be interested in a suitable beach that I can take him to for a short hour or two stay without a lot of travel in Nassau or Freeport.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

In Nassau I would walk to the public beach about 10 blocks away. Not a bad walk at all. In Freeport you will need to book an excursion or take a taxi. Freeport has some nice beaches you just have to travel to them.

That would be a very long walk for a 2 year old and/or a very tiring carry for grandpa. I would suggest either the Hilton hotel (fee, very close) or Sheraton (fee) with a taxi ride for the Sheraton. When leaving the ship in Nassau (and coming back) there is a free bus from the ships to the end of the pier, not sure of timing.

In Freeport Carnival offers an excursion that leaves directly from the pier and is called Grand Bahama Coastal Cruise & Shopping Tour. You "sail" down the coast to Port Lucaya, depart at PL, do some shopping or wander over to the beach and then ride a bus back to the port. Might be a memorial ride for the little tyke.
