Carnival Valor information needed

Recommended Posts

We are sailing on the Valor thanksgiving week, any information you can provide will be greatful. Does this ship have burrito bar? Is there a weight limit on the zip line tour in Isla Roatan? Also I already booked a quad inside for family of 4, the kids are now wanting to each have a friend go if we book another room for 2 can we mix up the cabin assignment? Do they charge you to switch?

Are you booked early saver?? If so then you will have to pay to move one adult in with the friends if they are kids. Your kids can be in a cabin alone (well depending on age too), but the children that do not have their legal guardian on the ship have to have a adult in the cabin. You might have to pay $50 to move a adult. See if you can get Carnival to waive this as they will get more $$$.

If Carnival excursion has a weight limit, you might check with Victor Bodden, he is a wonderful guide in Roatan .. and add $2 pp to get in the cage with the little monkeys, its worth the extra $2.

We did not have to pay a $50 penalty to move our 2 kids out of our quad balcony into a double inside...and DH and I also moved from the quad balcony to a double balcony. Their room is directly across the hall from ours. And yes we are booked ES. All we paid was the extra $120 total (quad rooms were almost gone so 3/4th pass rates were only $60 less than PG rate for a 4H during the 72 hr sale).

ETA: yes, Valor has a burrito bar but the line was so long each time I tried to go there, we never managed to get any food. The hours are very limited too.

I am not sure about the zip line in Roatan. But Roatan is a great place. We went to the Iguana Farm and to Maya Key.

There isn't a Burrito Bar on the Valor (like with the Splendor) but there is a really good fish 'n chips upstairs in the main buffet area as well as the deli/Asian eatery.

Enjoy your cruise! :)

hmm I am sure I saw it with my own eyes! Looking at the deck plan, it is on the Lido where the "Oriental" eatery is. Maybe it rotated from burrito bar to "Oriental"....? I thought the "oriental" was out on deck near the fore Lido pool.

Actually there is a burrito bar (least there was Nov of last year). Also a sandwich bar. In addition to the fish and chips place.

BTW, IMO one of the best things I ate on the ship was the seared ahi tuna on water mellow at the fish and chips place. Get it with the octopus salad...yummy. The Burrito's were pretty good. But being from Texas, and work in NM from time to time, I'm pretty picky about my burrito's.

You MUST eat at the Super Club.

You can read about our trip (that also tells about the ship and cruise) at the blog/review by clicking on the link in my signature. As a bonus I think I have a pic of one of the burrito's I got! :p

Depends on the outfit that is doing the tour. We booked outside of carnival and enjoyed it! DH is considered Big & Tall, :oso they had a special harness for him to use.:) Regular that you step into and then a shoulder harness to help you sit-up and not zip upside down.:p:rolleyes::D

Lok the tour group up if possible and check with them about the particulars. Enjoy!:)

Yes we are booked with early savers, my kids are 18 and 15 the 2 friends that may be joining will be 18 and 15. So the 18 year olds can't be in a room together by themselves right down the hall from us? How do you know if the rate goes down to get a discount or onboard credit? Thanks everyone for your responses I do appreciate all the helpful information.

I believe at least one person in the cabin must be 21 or over - so not sure about the two 18 year olds? Of course you can always book it one way - and then 'switch' when you're on board (making sure s&s cards and credit cards are properly assigned!).

In regards to the zipline in Roatan....

I was concerned with this matter as well and emailed Erick with my concerns... here is the Q&A received...

AS Posted on site:

Must fit in the harness and helmet in a safe manner as determined by the Senior Guide. This is a function of body shape and size, not weight. If you have concerns around this issue contact the office prior to booking the Tour.

Can you please list waist/hip measurement for your harnesses.

These are the maximum measurements.

31 inches thighs

54 inches waist

Would you like me to reserve a few spots for you. Please advise on number of participants and date.

Check out our videos on youtube.

Thank you for your interest in clip n zip and we look forward to having you zip with us in the near future.

Grab your measuring tape :D

Hope this helps!

OP: In regards to the moving of the room. We did this with a ES. But we

were told we had to wait another week until the final payment was made, which

we did. Then they allowed us to split the room, but we had to keep the same

category or higher. No charge for our change. But remember the ES rules

and strange sometime and change every person at carnival who you talk to.
