Shampoo and shower gel

What sort of shampoo and shower gel do they provide on board, debating if I need to bring my own?

Depends if you are particular. We always take our own just in case. And, they do change what they provide, so any answer you get may be wrong.

I always bring my own shampoo & conditioner, but use the body wash they provide.

 

With color treated hair, I don't want to take a chance. I also bring my own moisturizer.

For the record, I'm just not too particular about shampoo....I usually buy what is on sale. That being said, I did not like what was in the shampoo dispenser on the Spirit. It did not lather up much and left my hair kind'a blah. As for the bath gel, it was okay though I prefer my good old bar soap at home!

 

From now on I'm bringing my own! Shampoo for sure!

I used the shampoo on the NCL Star and brought my own conditioner, as conditioner is not provided. The shampoo is Elemis and is good, although it seems very watered down. It's VERY "thin" and sort of fell out of my hand before I could put it into my hair.

 

I was in a Mini-Suite on the 11th floor. I heard the suites had L'Occitane products, which are very good.

Be nice to the cabin steward and ask him or her if you could get the regular shampoo and conditioner and a bar of soap. Those usually are given to the people in the suites.

I like the Elemis products and ask the room steward for a bar of soap if one is not already in the cabin.

In May 2010, NCL Gem provided standard shower gel and shampoo like you'd get at a health club. The soap was spearmint scented, though, which was different but pleasant.
