CruiserGreg Posted June 5, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Hello all, I have a friend sailing next month on Royal Caribbean and he was told by a RCCL rep that he couldn't bring wine on board. Is this true? I usually sail Princess and don't know the rules for RCCL, but would be shocked if this were true. cruzrus Posted June 5, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Hi, I have sailed both Princess and RCL and have bought wine aboard, every time. In fact we put the bottles in our carry -on. Wine and champagne are allowed. But if you bring it to the dinning room you will be charge a corkage fee for opening. Bon Voyage! CruiserGreg Posted June 5, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted June 5, 2004 Thanks Shirley, I thought both cruise line policies would be the same. I told my friend about the corkage fees, and told him to ask his room steward for a couple of wine glasses so he could take a glass of wine to dinner if he he didn't want to pay the fee. He was just a little concerned because of what the RCCL rep told him. Now he can sit back and relax. Royal Caribbean is a great line, and I'm sure he will have a wonderful cruise experience. Thanks again! cruisegirl1 Posted June 5, 2004 #4 Share Posted June 5, 2004 We always take our wine as my husband is particluar about his wine. We put a bottle or two , wrapped in bubble wrap in each suitcase and then each carry one bottle on. Never a problem. We gladly pay the corkage in the dining room as the wine lsit is not very strong and the prices are a joke. We also ask room service for several glasses for the cabin. Merion_Mom Posted June 5, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 5, 2004 There is no reason to assume that all cruise lines have the same policies. Their LATEST "rule" is that you CAN'T do that any more. My understanding of these boards is that everyone is ignoring that and bringing bottles anyway. So far, people are NOT reporting confiscations. Happy cruising.
