Backstreet Boys Cruise

Not only is it true that there IS a Backstreet Boys cruise, but apparently, after all these years, they still have quite a following. It's not until December and it's already sold out!

The Backstreets part is sold out, but the cruise still is 67% available according to that fish site that is also a travel agent so I can't mention their name. My daughter (who is only 15 so it's odd she likes them) wanted to go but it was both during school and expensive so not happening. One of my wife's coworkers who is in her 20s was also all excited about it. It sold out in only a few days, however many cabins they had available.

As you pointed out, I'm guessing there would be no point on booking the same cruise in hopes you'd see the BSB, since the regular bookings wouldn't be allowed into their show. And I doubt you'd see them on the Lido deck waiting in line for a burger.

Yes I think the Cruise sold out within like a week or less.. I called and they have over 200 people on the wait list but the cruise itself is not completely booked. THey were selling the cheapest ticket for $894 for an inside with bunks and I can book a normal looking inside for like $264 p/p.

OK, so that means it's a partial charter. Once again keep in mind that if you don't book your cabin through the Backstreet Boys cruise organizer, you won't be able to attend anything related to them.

BTW, Also keep in mind that if you DO book a cabin directly with Carnival, and then they turn this partial charter into a FULL ship charter, Carnival CAN (and will) cancel your reservation. It has happened before.

Are you sure you are able to book tickets on your own? I went on the last 2 NKOTB cruises, they both were chartered exclusively for them. Everything on the cruise was dedicated to them. They took over the whole ship, it was impossible to get away from them. There were banners and cut out cardboard of them everywhere. The only entertainment was NKOTB. They took over the Lido deck everynight, did concerts, photos, game shows. They had their own DJ. Since Backstreet Boys is also using Rose Tours, I would imagine that it will be done the same way. If I were not a Backstreet fan I would not want to be on that cruise. New Kids stayed on floor 6 for the past 2 years, and there was a rather large security guard standing at the enterance to the rooms. You had to show your room keys. NKOTB had at least 50 staff members plus their families on board. They took over the whole section of rooms near them. I hope that you can get on the cruise, but I would doubt it.

What Tapi said is correct. If you aren't booked with a specialized group you cannot attend their scheduled activities. The group cruises aren't MUCH more expensive than the regular prices for cruises because they include special closed activities. They also probably have the costs of the celebrities and their entourage's cabins distributed among the fan rates. I wouldn't count on seeing and interacting with them if you booked a regular cabin on your own.

Hello all. I unfortunately did not sign up for th BSB Cruise but am booking a cabin on my own to save a lot of money and wondered if any of you knew where they would be putting the actual Backstreet Boys. I wasnt sure if the Carnival Destiny had Owners Suites that they would be put in, if they would block off the Spa deck or if they would be put in the Grand Suites on the Empress Deck. If any of you have ever been on a cruise where there are famous people do you have any insight as to where they stayed? Thanks so much. Any information would be helpfull.

i am not sure what rooms they will stay in but did you see them in concert earlier this week? i saw them in orlando and they were great

I have nothing against the middle-aged. I'm creeped out by middle-aged women who are obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. It's one of the myriad of things that creep me out.
How true... just think if it was a middle aged guy who was all freaked out Milley Cirus, hell we would get put in jail!

OOOhhhh I envy you (NKOTB cruise)!!!!

I am a big fan but evidently not big enough! Each time the cruise was sold out by the time I found out about it, plus none of my friends who are kinda sorta their fans refused to pay that kind of money to cruise on that particular sailing just because NKOTB was there!

I would love to see some pictures from the cruise! Not necessarily any shots of NKOTB but just of the cruise!! Maybe next NKOTB cruise we can bunk together! :p

I just think it's awesome that BSB has a cruise- I never knew that. I totally loved them when I was a teen. I don't think I'd go on a BSB cruise but that's awesome that the option is there. Different people want different things out of the cruise. I know there are running and exercise cruises, and I'd totally LOVE to go on a running cruise... but I know that's definitely not the norm, as most people on a cruise aren't exercising on vacation. People still book them, though.

And yes, BSB still do have a following... and unlike the Jonas' brothers following, most of us who liked BSB in their prime (97-98) are old enough to book a cruise :).

Don't worry If you go on this cruise there will be no chance of seeing anyone famous, as there will be no one on this cruise that is famous.

If the cruise is sold out, you should definately put yourself on a wait list. If Rose Tours is handling this cruise, they may be able to get more cabins or some passengers may back out. Previous posters mentioned that Rose Tours was handling this and it was not a full ship charter.

I have been on 2 Rick Springfield cruises that were planned via Rose Tours and am booked for the third. Those cruises were on the Destiny and the celebrities stayed on deck 7 in the suites.

Don't listen to those that are making fun of these cruises. It is a truly a great fan experience. Good luck! :)

I went on the Rick Springfield & Friends cruise on the Destiny in 2008 and am booked again for 2010. I can tell you that he stayed on Deck 7 - where all the Suites are...so I am sure that BSB...WHOM I LOVE BTW...will be on the same deck!!! All the events are banded..which means you have to pay out the wazoo for..but Rick does a free concert for ALL on the Lido deck...so maybe BSB will do the same!! Have fun!!

I did see them in Orlando as well. We were only 12 rows back and had a fabulous time. I ended up booking the cruise and someone else mentioned that the group cruises were not that much more then the regular rooms. That is not the case with this cruise.. The group rate for the smallest bunk bed inside cabin was $849 +taxes and all fees PER PERSON. I just booked an inside nice room across from the nicest rooms on the Empress deck for $689 for 2 people!!! So I will take a chance running into them but if not thats ok too. We love Cruising so either way it will be a great time. But thank you all soo much for answering my questions and giving me good advice. Its greatly appreciated.

Maybe I haven 't been keeping up, but why was Kevin not in any of the group photos on that website? Was he at the concert? Did he take a break?

He is no longer in the group. I guess maybe in spirit he is but its just the 4 of them now. Nick being my favorite, Brian my second fav and AJ and Howie. If any of you want to see videos or pics I took at the concert feel free to friend request to me ( Christy Ketz) making note that you saw me here on Cruise Critic and I will add you so you can check out the great vids and pics I got. :) They still sounded good and only a few parts where Kevin was missed. And as someone else said that would be AWESOME if they did a concert for everyone on deck but I am not counting on it. But I am really excited becuase you all said that NKOTB stayed on Deck 7 in the grand suites.. I booked my inside cabin literally right across from those suites.. so who know I may have a change of bumping into one of them. :) http://www.facebook.com/cketz1?v=app_2392950137#!/video/video.php?v=812213420681

NKOTB stayed on Deck 6, but it was a different ship. NKOTB was everywhere during the cruise. I am not sure if BSB will be the same, but I ran into NKOTB all the time (casino, buffet, piano bar, specialty coffee, elevators, even the muster drill). They would knock on doors and meet fans. I am still having a hard time picturing the cruise when nonfans will be on it. For my cruises the minute you walked on the ship, New Kids were playing. The whole atrium was decorated with New Kids banners. They literally took over the whole ship. All of the tvs around the ship only played NKTV (New Kids 24 hours a day). We also had NKTV in our room. Everyone decorated their doors with New Kids pictures. They took over the kids club for people to drop off gifts, and the library as their own store. They were the entertainment at the sail away party. They had two concerts, so there was no other shows provided by Carnival. Everynight they would have a deck party that would keep going until 5 am. Even on Half Moon Cay they provided the entertainment. I can't believe that BSB didn't charter the whole ship too considering it is sold out.

New Kids sold out the entire ship within hours (both years). I would have thought BSB could do it too.

Have a great time on your cruise. Please come back and share your thoughts on it.

I am still learning how to do this, so hopefully it works.

You have to find a way on the ship. It truely is just the best weekend. Expensive but worth it. You have to book immediately because they sell out within hours. This past cruise the website kept crashing their were so many people trying to buy at once.

I believe the topic changed when someone got snotty.

As to the OP's question, it depends on the act. I'm pretty sure the Bare Naked Ladies did the entire Bare Naked Cruise on-board. I believe John Mayer did as well. I know some acts will join up with the group for a special concert at one of the ports, so it really depends more on the act than anything else. *IF* the act is on board, expect very heavy security. (I once worked for the fanclub for a rock act. They considered doing something like this, fanclub only cruise but balked at it due to the high cost for the fans as well as the security issues.)

Yes, BnL do all of their concerts on the Ships n Dips on board :D I believe they stay in the owner suites or something similar.

No, it was not a full ship charter (and is not for this year's cruise either). There wer 1200 on the first and 750 on the second. The first year, John Waite was the special musical guest (along with 3 soap stars and Mark Goodman, former MTV veejay as the host). The second year, Richard Marx was the special musical guest (along with 2 soap stars and Mark Goodman).

Both years included full concerts with Rick Springfield and the special musical guest, acoustic sets, a concert on the Lido deck, question and answer sessions, movie night, a beach party excursion (at an additional cost), photo/autograph sessions (autographs and one-on-one photos the second year, just group pics with 2 or more passengers the first year), gift bags with some nice swag. The first year was fun. The second year was incredible. They did such a nice job in working out any kinks and listening to feedback. Highly recommended! :)
