akwaaba Posted August 19, 2010 #1 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Hi, I'm considering going to Bermuda onboard Carnival's Pride and was wondering while in port if there will be entertainment onboard, I kind of remember that there's a Bermuda rule prohibiting it??? I know there's no gambling. Thanks Sheila
smeyer418 Posted August 19, 2010 #2 Share Posted August 19, 2010 Hi, I'm considering going to Bermuda onboard Carnival's Pride and was wondering while in port if there will be entertainment onboard, I kind of remember that there's a Bermuda rule prohibiting it??? I know there's no gambling. Thanks Sheila all cruise lines have entertainment aboard in Bermuda. there is some issue of something being limited(which I think has more to do with noise on deck) but in the past few years all have had at least one show every night. For specifics on Carnival ask on the Carnival boards.... enjoy!. Bermuda came very close to allowing late night gambling this year...but in the end it was voted down. njhorseman Posted August 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted August 19, 2010 The rules restricting the nature of onboard shows were repealed years ago. There is a midnight curfew for music on outside decks.
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 19, 2010 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2010 That's correct. There is now entertainment when in port. Of course the casinos are closed as they are other ports. Keith

Keith Casinos are not closed in every port. I have been on ships in both the Bahamas and Barbados to name two where they have remained open. Alaska allows them to remain open within their territorial waters....
Rare Keith1010 Posted August 20, 2010 #6 Share Posted August 20, 2010 Casinos are not closed in every port. I have been on ships in both the Bahamas and Barbados to name two where they have remained open. Alaska allows them to remain open within their territorial waters.... Oh my gosh........... Aren't we talking about Bermuda? In general, casinos are closed in most ports around the world. I am sure there are always exceptions. In Bermuda they are closed. We were in Barbados in January of this year as part of a 108 day World Cruise that we were on and the casino on our ship was closed as it was closed in each of the 50+ ports that we visited around the world. I have seen artilcles dated end of April, 2010 about a discusision in Barbados as to whether to allow cruise ship casinos to open if they are docked at night but as of then nothing had been decided. We were there in January. Keith

In any case while its true that we were discussing Bermuda, I thought it might be ok to add another prospective. It does happen sometimes and is less rare than it used to be. Alaska now gets a portion of the casino income.

I had actually meant in my earlier post to say most ports because there are always exceptions but my fingers did not type what my brain was thinking. :)
