BallFour4 Posted April 23, 2011 #28 Share Posted April 23, 2011 Yes, apparently all of the Carnival Cruise Ships have a "lucky coin" which is in a small box which is welded shut somewhere on the ship itself. Does anyone know where the one on the Carnival Ecstacy is located? At the base of the mast, in the mini golf area. They have a sight glass that allows you to see them. . MrJulius Posted April 23, 2011 #29 Share Posted April 23, 2011 I believe that the coin ceremony had to do with the RENAMING of ships, not the commissioning of a ship. Just renaming a ship is bad mojo and should never be done without the proper procedure. I think that the coin (a real coin) had to be fastened to the inside of the hull. I don't have any links, but I remember this from my boating days. I could be wrong, it happened once before.
bondgirl007 Posted April 23, 2011 #30 Share Posted April 23, 2011 On the Spirit, hole 7 on the mini golf course, if you are facing the little sign that says 7 look over to your right and up a little.

babies12 Posted April 23, 2011 #32 Share Posted April 23, 2011 If memory serves me right try looking around the sports deck area. I once recalled someone finding a coin there but I don't remember which ship. Just start searching around those areas along the walls a little high up. MSRussell Posted April 23, 2011 Author #36 Share Posted April 23, 2011 On the Dream, the coin is a little hard to spot. I went as far up as I could go on the ship, then gave up and went to Guest Services and asked them. They never heard of it, so they called the bridge and asked them. Turns out it is behind of the top of the water slide, and the display is even with the background, so it was a little hard to seet, but I found it. cuyahoga11 Posted April 23, 2011 #39 Share Posted April 23, 2011 It is a maritime superstition that Every ship that is built, no matter what kind has the coin welded before the ship is completely built. It appeases the Gods, and creates good luck. I don't believe that they are moved around. The legend was Fabulous....you will lOVE it. Melanie Not trying to be funny but they must have forgotton to put them on the Splendor
