MelissaE1 Posted October 3, 2010 #27 Share Posted October 3, 2010 Haven't sailed with Disney but I have been told that it is quite possible to sail on their ships and not be subjected to a constant barrage of Disney characters so I hope that the same will prove true on RCI. I have sailed on Disney and this is entirely true. It's handled very well and is nothing like a "theme park at sea" feeling. Disney has a nice combination of a classy, old time liner feeling for those who appreciate the finer things combined with fairly subtle but easy character accessibility for those who want to please the kids (or their inner child). :) While my kids are now past cruising for the characters, I think RCCL will be careful with their implementation and likely emulate the "tried and true" formula that is already working for a competitor. In which case Shrek could be a fun addition!
bionicman97 Posted October 3, 2010 #28 Share Posted October 3, 2010 But that would eliminate better than half of the good CDs!! They're all "characters"! :D (Just giving you a cheerful hard time) It would also eliminate 10% of the passengers ;)
kluellen Posted October 3, 2010 #29 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I picked a cruise ship specifically because they are going to have Shrek - because I can't afford Disney! So it works for me, this is a cruise for the kids. If it were just dh & me, we'd probably pick a different ship (and possibly a different cruise line!) Debde Posted October 3, 2010 #30 Share Posted October 3, 2010 I'm thinking the 'shrek' invasion is being placed on ships where RCCL is trying to promote family cruising. Those who do not want this sort of atmosphere have other ships and Celebrity ships to choose from. If you are one of those folks that have posted here they do not want to see them, [as I'm pretty sure they will be in public area's], plan ahead! ;) The above mentioned ships will be ones you will probably want to skip. Look at the bright side-many more beautiful ships to chose from.
