ryano Posted October 8, 2010 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2010 Does anyone here know if the Radiance helipad is accessible by wheelchair? I hear this is a wonderful place to go for sail away and at night to star gaze and get some quiet time. Just wondering if I can access it in my wheelchair or if there are stairs involved? Thanks! kitty9 Posted October 8, 2010 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2010 No, it's not accessible. And, it's not open for passengers all the time. It's open on a very limited basis. You have to go through the theater to access the helipad and it involves a lot of stairs.
Quampapetet Posted October 12, 2010 #3 Share Posted October 12, 2010 It isn't accessible, sorry. There are outdoor hallways on either side of the ship (deck 5, if I recall correctly - I was on the ship in '08) that lead to a set of stairs each (not as many stairs as a regular level, maybe half as many). Once you get up the stairs, you're on the helipad. It is EXTREMELY windy up there!!! I happened to be on there during sail-away because they had told me they'd put the potty for my service dog up there (it took me a while to find the potty, since they kept telling me different things and then it turned out that the thing wasn't set up yet - they ended up setting it up in one of the outdoor halls to the helipad) and it was hard to keep from being knocked over by the wind! cb at sea Posted October 12, 2010 #4 Share Posted October 12, 2010 True, there are stairs (about 7 or 8) and it's anything but quiet! The wind is terribly strong and noisy when the ship is underway, making being there quite uncomfortable!
