Splendor Incident Spoofed on SNL

There was another parody on this ,I believe the daily show with jon stewart. They had a couple who were having everything go wrong(no toilets working, getting sick from contaminated food, sweating profusely while trying to sleep, the wife falling down the stairs because it was so dark and getting hurt, but the couple kept saying" this is a great cruise were alive still so we have no complaints" it was so funny as you could tell how miserable they were. It reminded me of people on this board who think unless you die you had a good cruise.;)

I thought it was ammusing, nothing overly funny, but ammusing, like said earlier, everyone has a different sense of humor, some liked it, others did not, as with everything in life, not everyone will enjoy something.

I htought it was funny too :D

PS.... I only route for the Leafs when they aren't playing the Canucks:p

They didnt seem to be poking fun at the Splendor at all.I thought the skit could have been a little more funny though. The only part that made me laugh was the husband's only remark. I liked the earlier SNL shows also.I dont even bother to watch the new ones

Thanks for the link. I thought it was hilarious. They poke fun at cruisers gently but also were smart enough to realize there wasn't a whole bunch to complain about on the Splendor so didn't try to take the easy route with pop tarts and spam cracks. I think they are also (just a bit) poking fun at the media who in most cases appear to have reported things wrong or poorly with the widespread reports that everyone ate spam and pop tarts for 3 solid days. I never believed it and probably most real cruisers didn't because we who cruise all know there is a wide variety of food available on a cruise ship and thus there would have been stuff that didn't need refrigeration available.

In one interview I saw they had a woman who was unhappy because she had to eat cereal and fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch and sandwiches for dinner. They may have done some creative editing but the way the report came across it sounded like she never had to eat those things before and it was a huge imposition. I don't trust the media not to have creatively edited it to give it that spin whereas in reality she had just stated the menu. I felt sorry for her because she did not come across well in the interview.

I thought it was funny. I do remember the early years of SNL. I would cut short dates in those days just to see SNL. I saw some of the interviews following the docking of the Ship. Some of the complaints were petty. One guy said he was tired of eating cold sandwiches? I prefer to see the glass half full and not half empty. Get a sense of humour, this is not a rehearsal for life.

I'm among people with large heads in a field of spaghetti, when my concious ear is hearing something about Carnival Spendor coming off the TV.

I roll over, open my eyes, and here's a fictional couple, Frank and Gladys Madden, relaying their horror story on Weekend Update.

I back the DVR up, and see they are being asked to recount their story, as told to Wolfe Blitzer in San Diego.

The woman goes on to tell the nightmare of finding they got a Jr sleeper instead of a Jr suite, no window, no caramel flan at dessert, only three choices of ice cream, a jumping class of fat women overtaking the gym,and not being able to find her husband in the casino.

She then relates the lights going out as she's applying makeup, where she then laid down and slept for three days.

When the hushand was asked why he didn't wake her up, he answered, "Would you?".

This skit reminded me why I stopped watching this show, and changed the channel to Nick at Night.

I then returned to the field of spaghetti.

Did you too have a large head?

Was the spaghetti good???? How about meatballs????

:p
