How about doing one or both independently? We have not attended it, but I think you can actually see the Lumberjack venue from the ship when you dock. I would check out the show times and perhaps go to Saxman Village first (I really enjoyed it). Then perhaps you can go to the Lumberjack Show on your own and then walk back to the ship. Just an idea if you really want to hit both. Have a great cruise!
Budget Queen Posted February 23, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 23, 2005 You should be able to book an early Saxman Village tour from the dock visitor center. Then I would check out the Lumberjack show times. Should be able to do both?
xcomet Posted February 24, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 24, 2005 hi thanks for the info. are they in walking distance?( first time to alaska)
Rare Coral Posted February 24, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2005 The lumberjack show is within a block or two of where the ships dock. Saxman, technically, is within walking distance but if you are strapped for time - you probably want transportation there.
Budget Queen Posted February 24, 2005 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2005 Saxman Village is 2 miles from the dock. But again, YOU NEED A TOUR, it is not self guided.

chipandjohn Posted March 3, 2005 #8 Share Posted March 3, 2005 Asking the same question about the sme thing. Will there be Lumberjack show during my trip May 7th? It seem I've book the wrong time of year for most events and sights for Alaska. But I know I'll still have a wonderful time.
Rare Coral Posted March 4, 2005 #9 Share Posted March 4, 2005 I was in Alaska for a May 23rd cruise last year and the lumberjack show was going on. I am sure it will be open for your cruise. If there are ships - I am sure it will be open.
Budget Queen Posted March 4, 2005 #10 Share Posted March 4, 2005 http://www.lumberjackshows.com/alaska/show_schedules.html No show scheduled for May 7th. :( There is a BIG difference in tour availablity between early and late May.
chipandjohn Posted March 5, 2005 #11 Share Posted March 5, 2005 Thanks Budget Queen, I looked at our schedule and we dock in Ketchian on May 9and there are three show for that day. Sorry I wasn't specific in my other post.
tomcarson Posted March 5, 2005 #12 Share Posted March 5, 2005 I looked at 3 dates when there is not a lumberjack show and there are not ships in port or only a small Crystal ship. Most of these places cater to the ships and if the ships are in, they want the income.
SF Posted March 7, 2005 #13 Share Posted March 7, 2005 Should we wait and book our tour to the Saxman Village directly with the dock visitor center? Does anyone know how much it is and how long it is? We are trying to decide if we should do that first then the lumberjack show or see the show at 9am and then tour the Saxman village after. The only other two times to see the show would be at 11:30am and 1PM. Personally, I think the 11:30 is too mid day and breaks things up. I'm thinking we should get the show out of the way first and then do the tour but I'd like some opinions from those that have experienced these attractions. Thanks. bluehorizonlover123 Posted March 7, 2005 #14 Share Posted March 7, 2005 Are you sure you wouldn't rather take a flight plane adventure to the Misty Fjords instead. The lumberjack show doesn't seem like it would be that interesting. I saw the place where the show is held. wE took a flight plane who flew us over the saxman village from the air. It was very cool. Book the show you want, then easy to pick up a tour at the dock visitor center for Saxman.
