dillonsmimi Posted December 4, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 4, 2010 There is one cruiser on our roll call that has really bent over backward to set up a few activities for us. This guy has gone way beyond what I think is fair for someone wanting (and needing) a laid back vacation. I want to help by setting up a Princess approved special activity but need a little info. Who do I talk to? Will they have a list of activities for me to get ideas from? TIA.

Kinda in the dark here (altho the sun is peeking over the horizon)! mimi mimi, has a CC roll call meeting already been set up for your group? As that would be the only thing I can think of that can be set up in advance with those contact numbers Paul posted. Anything else would have to wait until you board the ship. A list of activities will be provided in the Princess Patter each evening for the following day...........that might also be an idea to toy around with. Enjoy! paul929207 Posted December 4, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Mimi, I go on longer cruises, so we often set up luncheons on sea days. Sometimes around the middle or the end of the cruise. Someone just talks to the maitre 'd to set it up, has the purser's desk copy an invitation and delivers it to each person's cabin.

Toto2Kansas Posted December 4, 2010 #9 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks!Yes we have a meet and greet (sailaway?) planned. Will talk about it with the group then. mimi If it's a sailaway, it was probably set up by those on your roll call to just meet at a certain place when the ship sails. If you contact the Princess rep (in the list) for your ship, and you have enough members wanting to attend on your roll call, Princess will set aside a private area during your cruise, and give you the date and time, for all to meet up again. They really don't provide much besides just a space in one of the clubs and a no host bar, but it's a way to alert everyone to the meeting time and place. Enjoy! cherylandtk Posted December 4, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 4, 2010 For a price, the same contact people will set up a private party (the contact can give you the details and prices) with cocktails and plates of hors d'oeuvres. You could make it a surprise party for him with the Roll Call members, but you would have to be able to contact everyone off the Roll Call to keep it a surprise. You could make it a surprise party for him with the Roll Call members, but you would have to be able to contact everyone off the Roll Call to keep it a surprise. If memory serves me correctly, these types of parties are all billed to one passengers cruise account, and then that passenger would have to collect from the others attending. There must be a minimum number of passengers willing to participate (sorry, I can't remember how many they consider as a minimum number), and it is for one hour of unlimited drinks and hors d'oeuvres. cherylandtk Posted December 4, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Yes, those details jive with my memory, too. I recall that there were several levels of party types, with associated increased costs as the amenities increased. And while there is a 'minimum' number you can still have the party with fewer people, you just pay for the minimum. It has been a while, but I want to say the minimum for the basic cocktail and hors d'oeuvres was around 15 or 20 (?). I cannot recall the price range, but maybe someone else can. Again, the OP would have to have a way to contact everyone off the Roll Call to set this up in advance.

paul929207 Posted December 4, 2010 #14 Share Posted December 4, 2010 Personally, I would not want to be on the hook for party like this. It is just too likely that some people will not show up or will not pay and the organizer will be left with a substantial bill.
Toto2Kansas Posted December 4, 2010 #15 Share Posted December 4, 2010 I totally agree with you Paul. Now if the group was traveling together, such as family or long time friends, that would be a different story. But for a roll call with a group you have never met, I wouldn't even consider it. Plus, keep in mind that usually (from our experience on the shorter cruises), only about half the roll call will show up for any type of meet, no matter how active they are online. Longer voyages it is a different story and as much as 95% can show up for a scheduled meet. ;)
dillonsmimi Posted December 5, 2010 Author #16 Share Posted December 5, 2010 Thanks, guys. I brought this info back to my RC and we decided to discuss at our M&G. IMO, before you can really decide how much time you want to spend together as a group, meeting and seeing if the group clicks together would be key, yes?
