I will be on the Crown, anyone have ideas on how the two sides of the ship hallway carpet is different? I always seem to end up on the wrong side. Thanks.

The edges of the carpet are different colors. One side has trim in a coral/pink color and the other trim is a blue/green color.

Port wine is red; carpet on the portside has the red in it.

Also, look at the wall at eye level across the corridor from each elevator lobby doorway -- you'll see a line drawing of the ship. The bow of that drawing points in the same direction as the bow of the ship, so if it's pointing to the right, you're on the portside.

the edge of the carpet is a different color - Reddish colored edging is the Port (think of Port wine) side "passageway" and also even numbered Staterooms. Darker blue edging is the Starboard side and has odd numbered staterooms.

Also something I just recently learned here on CC ... if you look at the "curl" on the carpet that looks like waves, the curl will point toward the front of the ship. I'd known the red/blue trick for years, but the wave curl was a new one to me. VERY helpful if you get turned around.

The cabin numbers are odd and even too, easiest way to check!

I've never noticed the different carpet colours and have but relied on the cabin numbers.

Blue - starboard - odd - right

 

Pink - port - even - left (all 4 letter words)
