williamson_ja Posted January 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2011 I've only sailed with Disney in the past. This year we have to many budget restraints to sail with them again. I found some great rates for the Carnival Dream. So, I went ahead and booked. Now I need to know what extras I'm going to have to pay for. -Is the Steakhouse the only restaurant that we have to pay for? - What beverages are included in our fare? -Can I bring soda onboard with me? -Is there juice offered at breakfast... or do I pay for that as well? -Room service. Is it free? Does it have lots of good options? -Anything else I should expect to pay for? Thanks

I found some great rates for the Carnival Dream. So, I went ahead and booked. Now I need to know what extras I'm going to have to pay for. -Is the Steakhouse the only restaurant that we have to pay for? Yes, the steakhouse is extra. The MDR and the lido buffet is free as well as the pizza station. Specialty snacks can be purchased at the specialty coffee station-extra fee. Free coffee on the lido. At dinner in the MDR only capichino and espresso is free. Iced tea, lemonade, coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate is free. Juice is also free. - What beverages are included in our fare? -Can I bring soda onboard with me? You can bring soda and bottled water onboard, I think it's a 12pk..I don't drink soda...sorry. You can purchase a soda card for the week. amount depends on how many cruise days there are. -Is there juice offered at breakfast... or do I pay for that as well? Juice is free at breakfast. -Room service. Is it free? Does it have lots of good options? Room service is free just add tip..not alot to choose from as far as I'm concerned. It's offered 24hrs a day. -Anything else I should expect to pay for? Alcohol, casino, bingo, spa services are extra Thanks Have a good cruise! Colorado Kat Posted January 1, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2011 Most juices at breakfast are free. Not the fresh-squeezed OJ.
firefly333 Posted January 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2011 WOW this is the third post today about the great rates on Dream. Im wishing I had someone else to book with, as I cant make myself pay 200% of the fares. You say just new to Carnival, so you will pretty much know how it works. 12 soft drinks can be in your CARRYON only .. thats new that you have to carry it on, plus each adult can carry on one 750 ml bottle of wine. espresso and capachino is free at dinner on Carnival is the only other thing unusual to Carnival. Julitta Posted January 1, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 1, 2011 There's also a high-end dining experience called the Chef's Table that costs $75 per person and includes wine. This is besides the Steak House.
williamson_ja Posted January 2, 2011 Author #6 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Thanks for all the great replies. We don't gamble or drink. So, I won't have to worry about those expenses. I don't drink soda, but my kids like one occassionally if we are on vacation (I don't buy it at home). Sounds like we are pretty set up with what we need. I know we'll have to pay for gratuities on the room. I'm already planning on that. Oh- I just thought of a new question... on the Disney ships there is a feww ice cream station. Anything like that here?

Some ships have a Sushi station and I believe that you have to pay for that. - What beverages are included in our fare? Water, tea, juice at breakfast and lemonade are included. -Can I bring soda onboard with me? You can bring 12 sodas with you. -Is there juice offered at breakfast... or do I pay for that as well? Juice is offered with breakfast. -Room service. Is it free? Does it have lots of good options? Room service is free, but don't forget the tip! -Anything else I should expect to pay for? mimxmom Posted January 2, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Some ships have a cafe with specialty coffee drinks/shakes/malts & desserts......these all cost extra there.
BeccaBecca1713 Posted January 2, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 2, 2011 As for juices, at breakfast in the Lido Buffet they have Orange, Apple and Passion-Guava. Rest of the day it's just Lemonade and iced tea from those dispensers. But if you want juice outside of breakfast, you can order it through room service. As for room service.....Breakfast options are basically Continental (cold cereals, pastries, bagels, toast, juice, milk, etc...). No hot items. As for lunch/dinner/latenight room service, there are some sandwiches (i.e. ham and cheese, turkey, PB&J), cookies, fruit, etc.... There are several ice cream and frozen yogurt stations on Lido. Have fun on your first Carnival Cruise!!!:D
hokie4life Posted January 2, 2011 #11 Share Posted January 2, 2011 The Dream is a great ship and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. Regarding the comment about sushi, I can't speak for other Carnival ships regarding sushi offerings but I can confidently say that the Dream does have a sushi bar and there is not an extra charge. It's only open for a short time each day (5PM to 8:15PM) and the offerings change daily.
westmich Posted January 3, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Is there a charge for mini-golf on the ships? What about the sauna in the spa? (without any treatments...just the sauna??)
Mrs.C05 Posted January 3, 2011 #13 Share Posted January 3, 2011 No cost for mini-golf or the sauna either.
