You WILL be spending/extra charge daily for service charge. (I believe this is $12.00 per day per person) Other than that, it's all up to you.

Pay restaurants, $10.00 to $25.00 per person,

Drinks, I only purchased one and it was, I believe $7.00. tip was also added to the bill.

Soda's, pictures, spa, I don't know.

Shore excursions vary $45.00 pp to $200.00pp.

What you will "really" be spending. Will depend on what you buy. You could feasilby walk off the ship not spending anything beyond the daily service charge. Or you could leave the ship having spent hundreds extra.

BTW, my last cruise, we had extra,

one shore excursion appx $160.00

one drink appx $7.00

Rewards program future cruise deposit $150.00 (250.00 with $100.00OBC)

gift shop Appx $7.00

Daily Service charge $168.00.

DH & I spent less than $500.00 above the cruise price.

And $250.00 of that is the deposit for our next cruise. (I have no clue what we spent off the ship)

Costs can vary on individual ships, but we found that a spa pass for a couple is about $198. Pictures ranged from a low of $12.95 to a much larger amount for photo packages. I think most were $19.95 individually. Lattes and capuccinos were about $5 each plus the tip. In our case, we tried to be extra-careful not to get a huge bill at the end of the cruise, so we were very conservative. We brought wine onboard for $15 a bottle corkage fee and saved money doing that over buying it onboard. We saw people with several pages of charges on their doors on the last morning of the cruise; others had very small bills apparently.

i just bought the soda card last month for our 2 week cruise...it was $6.25 a day plus gratuity if i remember for a week it was $50 and some change. you have to pay for it the first day and for the entire week...

also brought soda onboard.--we have used little carry-on coolers before ...the last one since it was 2 weeks we just checked a smaller size soft-shell cooler with our luggage.

you pay for bottled water $$$$...just bring on one or two and fill up...the WATER is FINE onboard or if you must have bottled water all the time, put a luggage tag on it and have it delivered with your luggage to your cabin!

They may be all inclusive...

It is a myth that cruising is all-inclusive. Simply not true. Never has been. At least not in my lifetime. There have always been charges for items like alcohol, excursions, tipping, bingo, casino gambling, etc.

An individual's shipboard account varies greatly with the individual. Here on CC, I've read posts that claim to spend as little as $200 for the week (including the DSC). Then, there are others who spend $2000 (not at all a stretch). I think the passengers who spend $20,000 are few and far between but it probably happens, too (think lots of gambling).

So...it all depends on your own spending habits and what you like to do. I myself budget $100-150 a day (not including the DSC, which should be pre-budgeted).

As others have mentioned, it will vary greatly on your spending habits. If you MUST have every photo, eat at every specialty restaurant, take the most expensive excursions, buy rounds and rounds of alcoholic drinks, play bingo, have a couple of spa treatments, and buy every duty free item at the shops onboard, you can easily come home with a couple thousand dollars charge to your credit card.

The lowest bill we've ever had for a 7 night cruise was $167 (total for two). However, one of my friends returned from a 7 night Alaska cruise with over $5000 charged to their ship board account!

My mother paid for my cruise in june on the jewel last year for a balcony room and it cost her about 1700 for the room...however me and my bf spent about 2000 lol and we didn't gamble, buy a soda card, buy photos, or go to the special restaurants. We did indeed buy shore excursions, liquor from the gift shop, my bf drank a few buckets, and bought two fcc! Anywho I was shocked to see our bill at the end of the cruise because I thought we were at like 1000 not 2000 lol money goes fast when your not thinking about it :)

Depends on what you do and what you buy. If you don't do the spa, don't play Bingo, don't eat in specialty restaurants, don't buy photos, don't drink, don't do any internet, don't shop in the duty free or logo or any ship shops and don't buy tours, you can finish the cruise with just the DSC (daily service charge).

However, if you do any of the above you'll add to your bill.

We ate in Le Bistro ($15 p/p), Il Adagio ($10 p/p). We did not eat in East Meets West ($25 p/p) or any other specialty restaurants.

I had the Indian Brunch (definitely worth the $15 p/p cost imo) and the Jazz brunch ($15 p/p).

I played Bingo once, the cheapest game card ($20). We bought several drinks but stuck to beer and house wine since they were cheapest (tab was about $10 each time including mandatory gratuity).

We've cruised before so don't need any more dinner photos or most port disembarkation ones. I did buy 2 in two of the ports that were new to us (about $15 per photo with my Latitudes discount).

I also bought at internet package this time, something we don't usually do ($100 for 250 minutes, plus $3.95 set up fee).

What added up for us was the tours. Because my husband has hip problems and walks with a cane we bought tours, either NCL or independent, for almost every port we were in. That really added up.

So, it depends on what you do or don't do as to what your final bill is.

Others have given good examples.

Now, this is some good advice I learned here on CC...

Figure out what your packing and how much money you will take, (or spend/charge)... Now take half as many clothes and twice as much money!

Another thing you can do to keep your debt low at the end of your cruise is prepay the $12 tips and buy on board credit. We also bought drink coupons on our Carnival cruise, I'm not sure that you can do that on NCL but when we left the ship we only owed $26. I don't like having debt on a vacation that is over...I use that money to book my next cruise!!! Have a wonderful time.

Welcome to Cruise Critic.

Our bill usually includes ship-booked excursions, some alcoholic beverages, a couple of specialty restaurant visits, the Jazz Brunch (on a couple of sailings), on-board gift shop purchases for souveniers or forgotten necessities, and a picture or two.

Here is a clickable link to a thread showing what some other people have paid... open it if you dare :D:p:D. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=921766
