Cruise out of Galveston Texas

Can anyone tell me which airport you would fly to in order to cruise out of this port, and how far from the airport is it? Thanks for you help, as we may want to cruise from this port.

Hobby is much closer and it's about an hour away.

sorry to sound dumb, but what is hobby? What is the cheapest way to get to the pier from the airport?

When I left from Galveston once we flew into Houston. It's probably about 45 minutes away. I was with friends who lived there so we had a ride... can't help on how you would get to the pier.

Hobby is one of the Houston airports. It is much closer to Galveston than Bush International. There are several shuttle services that can get you to port. Check out the Gulf Coast Departures board...lots of info there! :)

The airport code you want is HOU (for Houston Hobby). If you choose to fly into IAH (Bush Airport) you will be nearly 2 hours (with moderate traffic) away.

If can, try Southwest Airlines into Hobby Airport. Hobby is south of Houston; Bush Intercontinental is north of Houston. Hobby is closer to Galveston. And Southwest Airlines won't charge for your luggage (yet).

With airlines - Jet Blue, Frontier and Southwest into Hobby now,

and expansion of Southwest routes,

there are more available flights are into Hobby Airport,

that make it more accessable and easier to get to Galveston.
