I find that when mixing prints, they look best if one print is dominant, and the other is not. This way, they aren't competing for attention. You do need to repeat pretty much all the colors, as the previous posters have said.

I'm a bit matchy matchy by nature. I am slowly getting better, lol.

Yes I like both and assume I will just have to use them separately! I just thought it might work :) The dress doesn't have green but the blues look good. That was as big of a picture of that dress I could find until I take a picture of me in it!

The shoes are Naturalizer and I found them on Amazon. $20 they have a navy pair as well. I have plenty of shirts that I believe will match. I almost got plain navy but the stripes were calling my name :) It's gonna be a blue cruise for me!!

How bout a turquoise blue colored top, with khaki capri pants or shorts with the cute striped shoes? Turquoise is really popular these days, and the khaki would match the wedge heel I think?

Those are the cutest shoes I've ever seen, I may have to copy you!!

Those are really adorable shoes!! (Personally), I think it would be a little much for the all patterned dress with the patterned shoes. But it you broke up the "patterns" with say a khaki capri, a patterned turquoise top would work.

I'm getting so very excited :) We leave for Florida next Sunday morning so this weekend is the final try-on and pack as I don't get much of a chance to get anything done during the week!!

I love wedge shoes! I have three pair that are cork bottoms, this is my first pair with the rope base.

I'm sold on doing color blocking with these shoes instead. I have one pair of khakis, but they are slightly too big :D So I'll end up shopping the days before the cruise for those final items - like capris and short.s

So we're starting to pack today, and while I have my outfits chosen (and re-chosen ), I'm looking at this pile of clothes and thinking What am I thinking - there's no way I'm going to wear this many clothes!!

We have a 7 year old that we're cruising with so there will be no sleeping until noon and i an't stand being in a bathing suit all day, so I'm wondering how much clothes I should be packing strictly for "daywear". I have swimming, workouts and evening figured out, it's just the casual day meals/movies/casino??/hanging out on board when you're not wearing a bathing suit kind of clothes ... I have several outfits that mix and match well, but it just seems like a LOT.

If it helps to clarify, we're on a 5 day with 2 ports. One port is Labadee (so a beach day), the other port is Jamaica which if we do anything it'll be a water/beach adventure.

Also, how likely is it that I'll be able to be sleeveless all day on board? I'm just realizing I don't really have any light coloured cardigans/cover-ups as everything is mostly black in my wardrobe. Great for Ontario, not so great for the Caribbean ;)

Thanks for the advice :)

Omg! I just found this thread and love it! I am wondering the same thing about being skeeveless. Mostly because I have never cruised before, and we are scheduled for the Riviera March 28th to the Carribbean. Dress code is country club casual, so guys will have jackets on a lot of the time. Seems to me that means air conditioning everywhere, which makes me very cold!

So I am planning shawls for evening and crochet type cardigans for day and sea days....what do you think!

Just spent some money at Chicos - starting my clothes collection - oh it was FUN! Found some nice gold strappy but low sandals at Kohls...oh what a start to joining this thread!

I am so glad you exist!

Well, I will be leaving the cold for Orlando in a week, then I'm on Freedom for an Eastern Caribbean cruise for the week! I have packed shorts and a mix of short sleeved and sleeveless tops, based on the temps I have been seeing. I also have a few with 3/4 sleeves (light weight) with a few pair of ankle pants for the evening, in case I am cool after dinner and want to change. (I'm wearing dresses to dinner, by the way) I am bringing a lightweight sweater as well.

Will I be okay as far as the temps go?

I already packed a bunch of things today such as shoes, pajamas, swimwear and a few things that don't wrinkle. I will finish getting everything ironed and keep them altogether in the closet so I will be ready to put them in the suitcase closer to when we leave. This way, they will stay looking neat. Can't wait!

Welcome Terry! I am very cold natured myself, so I always take like a light colored sweater and a black sweater, and I even took a denim jacket on the last cruise, and wore it over sundresses with the sleeves pushed up to 3/4 length and it was really cute - I'm fine in the ports, but cold everywhere on the ship!! Don't forget to check out your local thrift stores for your cruise clothes, some of us have found some great deals there for next to nothing!!

For Laurspag and others headed towards FL - check the weather before you come! It has been in the high 30's, low 40's at night here in SFL for the past several nights - and not so warm during the daytime. Just an FYI so you don't get here and on your cruise and freeze to death! :D

There are 2 very different philosophies for packing: Minimalists take neutral shorts/Capris (white, black or khaki) and a couple tops in various colors for daytime/casual. Dinner clothes consist of neutrals also, with different accessories to change the look.

Maximists make a spreadsheet and take a completely different outfit for each activity for each day...nice if flying isn't part of your travel plans.

So JediMom, Terryd444, laurspag: If you are cruising from Florida, short sleeves and shorts should be good for daytime. 5-7 days: 3 pairs of shorts/Capris and 5 or 6 tops (sleeves and/or sleeveless) will give you enough changes. It's always a good idea to have a lightweight white cardigan or light jacket. It goes with everything and keeps you warm in air conditioning.

Dining rooms are a little cool for me, so if I wear a sundress or strapless top to dinner, a Bolero-type cardigan keeps me comfortable.

You could take nice neutral ankle pants for dinner and wear them a couple times with different tops. The other people at your table notice what you're wearing from the waist up, but don't see what's on your lower half.

wrcjr98: My local Old Navy store closed recently:confused: - too bad. I really like the photo you posted of the anchor-print shirt! It would be a nice addition to any Cruise Closet:cool:. Thanks for sharing!

To add onto these suggestions, if you do bring dresses, remember that many of them can then double as a skirt if you bring shirts within the same color pallete that can be worn on top. One of my tricks is to wear a sundress to dinner one night then use it as a skirt (with a shirt worn over the top) a day or so later.

Great ideas ! I would love to see someone's packing list for an 8 night cruise with 2 formal nights with 1 specialty restaurant !

Thanks for all the tips and hints everyone! Glad I got confirmation that the ship will be on the cool side. I will plan accordingly with shawls or sweaters, or maybe even lightweight evening jackets.

I don't wear shorts any more. It will be capris for me! Love summery tops and I'm a huge fan of lightweight ruana or poncho styled tops with bling! Hope that will work. Also I like long boho type cotton skirts - I find them cool in humid weather, yet they work in air conditioning. I know it's not country club casual....some of my skirts are crochet and quite boho chic.

Anyone wear Toms shoes? My granddaughter is a huge fan and she got me interested. They seem very comfy and come in wonderful patterns and colors. I saw where one person is using them for travel day and thought they might be a nice change from ballet flats...they come in so many fabrics and don't cost much!

I'm going through my clothes tonight for my 7 night with 2 formal nights (I'm going to specialty restaurant one of those formal nights, though). So even though it's a little different, I'll try and share my list tomorrow. :) I'll try to take some pictures if I remember!

I like the style of what you're thinking! I'm not a huge fan of shorts, either.

Also, I've never worn Toms but my sister and friends swear by them! I have Sanuks, which aren't as stylish looking, but are also very comfy.

Hi Terry - I'm 51, and I just recently was introduced to TOMS by my teenaged niece. I told her that I was too old to wear them, but she told me that I could "rock them" - so I bought a pair of the classic crochet ones, and a pair of the ballet flats - they are comfy and cute, and it's a great cause (one for one) Also, I'm not a huge fan of the Crocs shoes, but their flipflops are super comfy - I have the "Adrina Flip", which they are out of stock of the black and brown right now, but watch for those to come back in stock - they're great on cruises-they have a little arch support, without looking like an orthopedic flip flop!!

I wish I could post a picture of the top I just ordered on clearance from Target (online), but with my work internet filters, I can't get back on the site today. Boo! But, it is called " Mossimo® Women's Tank w/ Green Sequin Paillettes -Honeydew Green" if you want to look it up. It is so cute! All over sequins in front and plain in back. I'm thinking I may wear it to dinner the first night with my navy linen pants & a jean jacket. I'd originally thought I'd wear a flowy white top, but fell in love with this one! It'll look nice with DD's Janie & Jack pant suit I posted a few days ago, too, I think. I'll get it mid-next-week, and we leave on Friday! I just hope it comes in time! :)
