JohnSC Posted February 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 11, 2011 Can anyone tell where in Bermuda the ships dock? Is there more than one location? Is it within walking distance of the town?
LongTimeTvlr Posted February 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 11, 2011 When we were there last summer on the EOS, they docked at the Royal Naval Yard all the way around on the West end of the island. I seem to remember that it was also called the King's Wharf. You can walk around the shops there, but to get to Hamilton you need to either take the ferry or the island buses. LongTimeTvlr Posted February 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 11, 2011 I don't know where Cunard docks. My previous comment was based on the cruise we took last summer on RCCL's Explorer of the Seas. I had forgotten that I just hopped over here to the Cunard thread. MCC retired Posted February 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted February 11, 2011 You don't mention the ship ? Years ago , the most ships were small enough to dock right in town , St Georges and Hamilton. I believe that only Holland America docks in town Hamilton and anchors off St Georges regularly now. All the big ships go to Kings Warf (The Dockyard). Ferrys taxi's & bus's can take you to Hamilton from there.A plus ,you are closer to the famous South Shore beaches docking at Kings Warf than if you were docked in town. Rare Essiesmom Posted February 12, 2011 #6 Share Posted February 12, 2011 If you are on Queen Victoria...or any other ship larger than about 55000 tons, you will be docking at King's Wharf, West end. If you are on QV, you will be the first ship of the year to visit Bermuda. They will be happy to see you. EM
bobby1119 Posted February 12, 2011 #7 Share Posted February 12, 2011 Docked at King's Wharf on the West End (Celebrity Summit 2010; QE2 1999); anchored in Grassy Bay (QE2 1994). It has sadly been a long time since a Cunard ship has called at Bermuda. QE2 did it regularly... you should be accorded a festive welcome back! Cunard should be a presence there again. Enjoy.
