Our next cruise in May is our 1st Platinum. Do we have to do anything ahead of time?

We were already turned down for Anytime Dining, which I thought was an automatic perk of Platinum. This is not a good sign IMO. I talked to someone at CCL and they said don't worry, just talk to the MD. It's a Med cruise, so what happens if the majority of cruisers are Platinum? I know I'm being slightly silly, but we really need our laundry perk and our Disembark perk (1st time I cared about it). Will I get to the Port of Barcelona and the CCL agent will say they didn't know this was our 1st Platinum. I don't really trust the average 800 number agent to know the nitty gritty about Platinum so I ask my fellow pax for advice.

Thanks kindly,

How do you know you were turned down for anytime?

Look at your boarding pass. It should say something like "Proceed to VIP".

If it doesn't, look at your cruise history at carnival.com. Make sure all your cruises are listed.

As far as dining, go see the MD when you board and show him your Platinum card.

Better take a copy of the Platinum perks from Carnival's website with you.

Hi!:DI also recently became a platinum member with carnival and im 14 years old ive been on 12 cruises and 10 with carnival, hmm well the perks basically are you get to board quickly its way better then waiting in the big line and on ports that require tenders you get priority tender services basically meaning you can go whenever you want without waiting. You also get the free laundry perk which is awesome and each night in the rooms along with the regular towell animals and chocolates you also get envelopes etc. with your names on it and also chocolate covered strawberries and a seafood dish etc. delivered to your room for free its really nice I like being a platinum and I hope you like it too!:) plus when the staff sees you have a platinum card there even nicer to you! and at the front desk we have our own reserved line for platinum members.PLus to top it all off the sail and sign cards for platinum members are really neat:)

Soon after I booked they told me no deal on Anytime. I'm not worried because I'm sure the MD will switch it. I did believe though that you got Guaranteed Dining Preference with Platinum. Maybe I'm wrong about that.

You are correct. You get your dining preference.

This is from Carnival's FAQ's:

What are the benefits of being a Platinum guest?

Past Guest Recognition Program - Platinum Guest Level Benefits

Available exclusively to Platinum Guest cardholders who have sailed aboard the Fun Ships ten times or more, Carnival’s Past Guest Recognition Program benefits are designed to recognize and reward those longtime Carnival guests for their loyalty over the years. These privileges and benefits will be offered on the tenth cruise.

The Platinum Guests will receive a special welcome aboard letter from Carnival President and CEO, Gerry Cahill detailing the exclusive amenities and privileges available during their cruise:

Priority Embarkation: Upon arriving at the cruise terminal, the guest must ask for VIP Check-In, in ports where VIP Check-In is normally offered.

Personal Guest Service Staff: An exclusive, fully staffed Platinum Desk for personal service has been established at the Guest Services Desk. In addition, a dedicated phone line is available from 8:00am-8:00pm.

Personalized Stationery: Special stationery personalized with the guests’ name will be delivered to the stateroom prior to embarkation.

Canapés: Canapés will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Note: For cruises 5 days or longer only

Petit Fours: Petit Fours will be delivered to the stateroom one evening via room service.

Carnival Logo Item: A special Carnival giveaway will be delivered to the stateroom.

Complimentary Entry Fee into Blackjack or Slot Tournament: Past Guest Recognition Program: The Platinum Guest (18 years or older) will contact the Casino Cashier Cage for his/her complimentary ticket.

Complimentary Wash and Fold Laundry Service: Complimentary unlimited wash and fold laundry service.

Guaranteed Dining Assignments: Guests may change their assigned dining time.

Note: This is for the Platinum guest and immediate family, maximum of two staterooms.

Guaranteed Steakhouse Reservations: Guests may get confirmed reservations for the Steakhouse.

Priority Spa Carnival Reservations and Complimentary Treatment Upgrade: Guests will be encouraged to book early to be assured of their requested appointment selection.

Priority Tender Boarding: In ports where the ship will tender, guests not on a shore excursion will proceed to the Platinum Desk and be escorted to the appropriate gangway for the next available tender.

Priority Debarkation: Guests will receive a debarkation letter offering a choice of how they would prefer to disembark the ship. They will be given the choice of Self Assist (where offered) or regular debarkation; for regular debarkation, the guest will receive Carnival Platinum Luggage tags.

I'd take a copy of this with me, just in case.

Ahhhh, but does it apply to anytime dining? I thought it meant that Platinum cruisers were guaranteed main dining room assigned seating time, early or late, not anytime dining.

It applies to ATD as well...I've experiened the situation.

Thanks for the replies. The not being confirmed for ATD really didn't bother me other then the fact that it should have been confirmed at booking. On cruise #9, we simply went to the MD and asked for Anytime and he didn't blink. My paranoia is that we get there and no one cares that we finally got to Platinum and there is no record of it. The agent told me today at final payment not to worry. All will be taken care. All we care about is the laundry situation because of our travel schedule. How pathetic is that? Please don't answer and thanks very much.

Your Boarding Pass should have a VIP symbol on the upper right hand section.
