choosing room for a couple

What are the differences (besides location & price) of an Ocean suite;a suite; or balcony on the Ecstasy? Would it be worth the extra $$$ to get the ocean suite? Or should we just go with a regular Balcony?

The Ecstasy has extended balconies at the aft end of the ship, standard balconies on both port and starboard sides on the Main, Upper and Empress decks. The 'Ocean Suites' are all on the Verandah deck and aren't worth the money. They're only barely larger than a normal balcony cabin and there are no roofs over the balcony leaving them very exposed.

The Grand Suites on the Upper Deck are another matter and are really very nice at 335 sq ft with a 70 sq ft balcony...

this ship used to just have some lame suites, not like newer ships. then last dry dock carnival hung balconys on the outside of the hull and changed 3 decks, a lot of the OVs to balconys.

I would just book a balcony as most of the suites either are not that private, semi obstructed or just not much better than a balcony on a newer ship. not worth it is my vote, get a balcony.

Is this the same as all ships? What about the conquest class of ships?

Thank you all for your help! Back in 08 when we went on the Fantasy we got an interior cabin b/c it was our first cruise. We are taking a "just couples" cruise in Jan 2012 and we all wanted to make sure that we got the best room for the cruise for the best price.

You all ROCK!!!!!
