First time cruiser - on board laundry - money or tokens?

We are about to depart on our first Princess cruise (Ocean Princess departing Shanghai) and wondered if the washing machines on board require tokens or coins. If tokens, are they obtained from the office, and if coins can they also be obtained on board. We are Australian so don't have access to USA coins!

Quarters, not token. There is a change machine in each laundry room or you can get change at the Pursar's Desk. I used to get quarters from the Pursar's Desk rather than from the change machine. I'd go when it wasn't busy.

US Quarters and I also suggest you get them ahead of time. Sometimes the change machine is not working.

I accidentally discovered that the machines will operate with Princess slot machine tokens. I had got change from the machine in the laundry and it dispensed 2 tokens and 2 quarters....they did the trick.

Thank you so much everyone - how wonderfully prompt everyone was with the answer! We're really looking forward to the cruise, although the terrible news coming out of Japan is a concern. We're due to finish the cruise in Osaka, and fly out of Tokyo, so we'll see how it all goes. Thanks again.
