Most Sun, Port or Starboard on a Transatlantic

Recommended Posts

I am booking the Adventure of the Seas, May 1 from San Juan to Malaga Spain, which side of the ship would have the most sun? This is my first transatlantic.

Thanks for any advice

On one side of the ship you will have sunrise and sun during the morning and on the other side, sunset and sun during the afternoon and early evening. I've only done westbound TAs but frankly have never thought much about whether one side or the other gets more sun. Out on deck it really should't matter.

That would be true on a sailing where the ship is sailing north or south, but not when the ship is sailing east or west. On transatlantic voyages the starboard side receives significantly more sun on eastbound journeys and the port side on westbound journeys.
