Rare Keith1010 Posted April 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2011 You may want to use a search engine or to get a TA to help you locate a cruise. There might be something at the end of the Alaska season that goes over there. Most cruises that do Round Trip to Hawaii leave and return out of Los Angeles or San Diego. Mich3 Posted April 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Carnival has a 12-day cruise from Vancouver in September. We did that cruise except we departed from Ensenada, MX instead of Vancouver. We loved it!
mtwingcpa Posted April 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2011 I've seen Celebrity and HAL do a Vancouver-to-Hawaii departure from time to time. It would probably be in the fall and would be a repositioning cruise ending in Southern California. There might be a reverse direction itinerary in the spring. I don't think I've ever seen a Vancouver round trip, and Seattle is probably out of the question due to the so-called "Jones Act" restrictions. Mich3 Posted April 12, 2011 #8 Share Posted April 12, 2011 Our cruise to Hawaii was 6 sea days in April. It was kind of rainy; however, not the roughest cruise we have been on. It was rough at the start when they had the muster drill, but did not stay that rough. The roughness was more due to the weather than the fact that we were farther away from land. We enjoy the ships and cruising, so we did not mind the 6 days at sea. Our only wish would have been for warmer weather because we had a huge balcony room! mr green Posted April 12, 2011 #9 Share Posted April 12, 2011 HAL does one round trip from Vancouver each spring. This year it is 18 days, and it will go into Seattle on the return trip, where most of the US cruisers will disembark, instead of going on to Vancouver. john

mr green Posted April 14, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 14, 2011 Thanks for noting that sailing! I'm gonna keep an eye on that for 2012. I believe that the Osterdam will do it, but I don't believe that she will stop in Seattle. john
mtwingcpa Posted April 15, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 15, 2011 I believe that the Osterdam will do it, but I don't believe that she will stop in Seattle. Yep, it looks like the Oosterdam in 2012. And she sails to Seattle the day AFTER returning to Vancouver. Keepin' my eye on that one! :-)
lrwl2006 Posted April 15, 2011 #13 Share Posted April 15, 2011 Don't watch too long. The HAL cruise that is leaving this year on April 24 was sold out by last summer. It is very popular!

Mich3 Posted April 17, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 17, 2011 How have April sailings from LA to Hawaii been? Nervous about rough seas.... The trip from Ensenada to Hawaii is a similar course as from LA. We have only been on the one trip, and that experience was not any worse than a couple rough times we had in the Caribbean. If you have always had smooth cruises, then it might be a different experience for you. Since we had experienced a couple rough sea days on other cruises before this one, it was not any rougher than what we've experienced before. On the cruise to Hawaii, the first full sea day was rough, and after that it was calmer--not perfectly calm, although it was not as rough as the first day. pomgo Posted April 17, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 17, 2011 we did a inside passage and continued to Hawaii with Canrival Spiriit called Fire and Ice it did start from Vancouver. It was the end of Alaska cruises in Sept and start of Hawaiin islands, however, it was a few years ago now. A wonderful cruise, cold up North and a few sea days but still we had a wonderful time.regards Irene and Stan

We did the last NCL Pride of Hawaii itinerary out of Hawaii, with a B2B crossing to LA, where it joined the main NCL fleet and became the Jade. (the 5 day B2B was dirt cheap- maybe an extra $350 per person?) We've been to Hawaii a lot and didn't want to stay in Waikiki. We stayed "out in the country" in Oahu for three days, went on a cruise around the islands, then a B2B to Los Angeles. It was in early February and a bit blustery, but the sea days weren't too rough. After such a port-intensive cruise, having the downtime at sea was great. Viv
kdg51 Posted August 19, 2011 #21 Share Posted August 19, 2011 We are planning cruise from West Coast to Hawaii sometime 2012. When is the best time of year to cruise to Hawaii? We've done the Caribean many times, the Panama Canal Springtime repositioning twice and Alaska a few years ago but this is our first time to Hawaii.
