Scouter Wife Posted April 11, 2011 #1 Share Posted April 11, 2011 I think I'm going to have to STOP reading this board!! It's just costing me too much money!! After reading about Half Moon Cay I decide one of those cabanas would be lovely..$199 later I have one booked. Everyone has raved about the steak house...I now have a reservation for 6. One thread talked about Tervis Tumblers so I had to stop at Bed, Bath and Beyond and get one so I can try out the Guava juice for morning mimosas. We won't even talk about the excusions I've booked! BUT I do have to say CC has also saved me $$ by pointing me to LastMinuteTravel.com that allowed me to get a better hotel for less than I had originally booked, and showed me how to use BV to start putting money towards onboard credits so that final bill won't be as bad as I know it would be. ;) Now if someone could just post a way to make the next 45 days go faster I just might have to keep reading....
mcfam5 Posted April 11, 2011 #2 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Cruise Critic definitely is an excellent source of information and a great way to eagerly anticipate your next sailing!!! Have fun!
Shadwick Posted April 11, 2011 #3 Share Posted April 11, 2011 LOL, boy I know EXACTLY what you mean. I have the following booked/setup/planned for our upcoming cruise; Steakhouse Chef's Table $1000 of OBC (includes gratuities and fuel surcharge which I hope doesn't happen!) Behind the Fun tour (hopefully....getting to the port early just for this!) Build a Bear for Grandson Soda cards (still debating on this...but we don't drink alcohol, so yeah...probably) Don't forget the freebies too! The "secret" decks, hidden food areas, how to get cash out of the casino. Oh, I guess the last one could cost you. LOL AND this is our first cruise! I wouldn't have known about most of this without CC. AND I'm down to 33 days and they can't go by fast enough either! :D Diana
serene56 Posted April 11, 2011 #4 Share Posted April 11, 2011 My first couple of cruises cost some major bucks. Now, the cruises we take are almost ALL Inclusive. Dont forget to save money for all the photos you buy
a3593 Posted April 11, 2011 #5 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Hi there! How do you use BV to set up OBC? (And what is "BV"?) :D I would love to do this. If I try to stash $$$ it tends to get spent. :o

If I try to stash $$$ it tends to get spent. :o BV = CCL Bon Voyage Department I think you stash money by purchasing Funship Dollars and putting on your account? I'm not positive but if you call BV I'm sure they can help.

If I try to stash $$$ it tends to get spent. :o Basically you buy Fun Ship Dollars and have them applied as OBC. Search the boards and it will give the whole easy process! Just use fun ship dollars and OBC as the keywords.

serene56 Posted April 11, 2011 #11 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Do you know where I could find this info? thanks SInce you have over 200 days til your next cruise-- http://www.carnival.com/BonVoyage/AddToCart.aspx?cat=giftcertificates&pid=FSD what I do-- is each pay I call and buy one certificate for 25.00 and have it mailed to me. (its dollar for dollar so no savings) But it gives me onboard credit- no worries about carrying around money and for me- its a fun way to save and have a calender to sailing. It takes 7 days to deliver a certificate. I take these with me onboard and visit the pursers desk later in the evening and have them applied
serene56 Posted April 11, 2011 #12 Share Posted April 11, 2011 How to get cash out of the Casino? ok I need to know that one..We dont really gamble but I do love the Slots from time to time..lol Just insert your sign and sail card and follow directions. You need your birthday and a 4 digit pin number. You transfer money from your sign and sail side of the card to the players side0

spohttey Posted April 11, 2011 #15 Share Posted April 11, 2011 I hear you, OP. I was forced, forced I tell you, to purchase this dress (at Walmart.com, of all places) after seeing it pictured on these boards.
LornaT Posted April 11, 2011 #16 Share Posted April 11, 2011 Instead of "Funship Dollars" that you have to send in the certificates to get applied, you can just buy On Board Credit directly from Bon Voyage department and have it applied directly to your booking. You will get a receipt for the transaction when you buy it. I've done this on lots of cruises, funds get applied to yur Sail & Sign card with no problems and no having to mail in Certificates and hope they get them and apply them. golfadj Posted April 11, 2011 #17 Share Posted April 11, 2011 CC has certainly saved us money on our cruises. Learned about stockholder credit here as well as private tours.
