Smoking areas/policies on MAGIC

Does anyone know for sure what the smoking policies are on the Magic?

What areas do/don't allow smoking?

I read here the majority of the casino is non-smoking.

Is that correct?

What other areas differ from other (older) ships?

Thanks!

No smoking in the Spa Cabins but overall Carnival has a very lax policy on smoking. The Fun Ships are Smoking Ships, with smoking allowed in the regular cabins and just about everywhere (except the dining rooms). If you are a non-smoker, some other cruise lines have stricter policies, including no smoking in any cabins.

Smoking on the Magic outside areas is on the Port side opposite as most other ships... Piano Bar is non smoking.. disco is smoking.. and they did open a spot at the Casino bar for smoking.. since the Piano bar is non smoking..

Direct from Carnival...

  • Deck 10 Lido: Open Deck Mid-ship Bar – Portside
  • Deck 10 Lido: Open Deck AFT Bar – Port Side
  • Deck 5 Promenade: Outside Piazza – Port Side only
  • Deck 5 Promenade: Casino – Portside – Designated Tables and Slot machine only
  • Deck 5 Promenade: Inside Vibe Dance Club and Outside Lanai Portside
  • Deck 5 Promenade: Outside Red Frog Pub Lanai Portside
  • Caper Insert: Public lounges and indoor areas onboard the (Carnival Magic) are non smoking. Smoking is only permitted in designated sections of the Casino, Vibe Dance Club, and Play it Again Piano Bar. Cigars or pipe smoking are only permitted on deck 5 Outside Ocean Piazza. Although smoking is permitted in staterooms and balconies, it is discouraged as a safety precaution…

Yeah, and that decision is subject to review... But, you're right... for the time being the paino bar is non-smoking...

so basically, aside from your cabin, you can smoke outdoors on the port side and indoors in Vibe and a small section of the casino.

sounds good to me. i might actually be able to use the casino for once!

Thanks for the information.

Mach, I looked all over Carnival's site and didn't find that!

My girlfriends and I don't frequent the clubs but we DO spend a lot of time (and money :)) in the casino.

If smoking is limited to a very few slot machines, we'll likely consider a different ship.

Most people wonder how setting aside part of the casino for smoking is not going to get smoke in the whole area. ... not that smoking ever bothered me. .. but Im curious how part of a room can be non smoking.

The non-smoking portion of the room will eventually be filled with smoke as well, but it will undoubtably still be less than if the whole room was smoking. A room with 20 people smoking in it will be much more tolerable to non-smokers than a room with 200 people smoking in it.

Also for me, the most important benefit to having a specific non-smoking area, is that when i'm at the slots, there isn't someone directly next to me, smoking. Sure, they may be "way over there", but not near me. That makes a huge difference in the air i breathe.

I just returned from the Magic. Smoking was allowed at half the casino bar. The tables and chairs were all non smoking. I don't remember seeing anyone smoking at the slots or table games. It was the least smokey casino I have ever seen. It also was not as busy as most casinos.

Thank you, Karrie, for that firsthand report! ;)

I would not call them "Smoking" ships...maybe you wish>>??

We had thankfully less smokers on Valor than I have ever seen

The whole serenity area and aft adult pool are non smoking and it was enforced. Only the main/loud/kid filled pool had smokers on one side..often sitting with their own kids, blowing their smoke at them. Nice parenting huh??

The Disco was smoky but most of the other loungers are not. No smoking in the aft/comedy lounge...no smoking in the theater..no smoking in the lounge where the band plays....the casino bar and promenade are non smoking. How about being accurate when you post things???

If you really want to smoke why don't you try the Asian lines>??>> Asian countries have the highest rate of smokers in the world and they will allow you to smoke in more places

While there are many smokers here all inside public places are non smoking including bars and clubs. The direct place in front of many buildings are smoke free and even the parking lots at hospitals are smoke free (including in your car, though hard to enforce unless you work there.) I react badly to smoke, other than the Magic, where are the smoking/non smoking areas on other ships. What lines have the best non-smoking policies.
