AfricanGray Posted April 25, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 25, 2004 I had the best time on the Horizon ( April 22 - Caribbean) however the weirdest thing happened to me. When I went to put on my sneakers at home after the trip, someone had tied my shoelaces like a lanyard. I gave the steward and assistant's money to the assistant. I gave them more than the recommended amount, and I even handed the steward an extra 5 bucks. Does anyone have any ideas about this? I don't think it was meant as a compliment. I was nothing but nice, and I was pretty neat. Thanks. Adelaide Horizon 3/22/04 Sun Princess, 4/05/03 Norwegian Wind, 12/
Rare Lois R Posted April 25, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 25, 2004 Hi..I am not sure I get it..why would they tie your shoe laces into a lanyard? And what does that have to do with how neat you are....doesn't make any sense And no, I have never heard of this before... brigittetom Posted April 25, 2004 #7 Share Posted April 25, 2004 I get it. No one else except the cabin steward and the assist. are in the cabin at anytime. If I tip properly and am neat in the cabin I wouldn't expect anyone to take revenge. I have to say that I can't possibly imagine a cabin steward taking any kind of revenge for any reason. Weird. Were you nice to your husband thruout the cruise. Rare Lois R Posted April 25, 2004 #8 Share Posted April 25, 2004 BT ...I was thinking the same thing...or at least someone in the family... Was someone in your family in the cabin while you were out? Did they try to play a trick? and it backfired? Rare Lois R Posted April 25, 2004 #10 Share Posted April 25, 2004 Hi Susan, a lanyard is a necklace usually made out of leather. It is twisted in sort of a braid like knot. I guess her shoe laces were tied in that same type knot. Next up...HORIZON Sept 18th to Bermuda! gardencat Posted April 25, 2004 #12 Share Posted April 25, 2004 Just an idea, were they loosly tied so you could slip them on without undoing them? Some of the teenagers here tie their shoes loosely ( not sure if it is like a lanyard or not) so they don't have to tie them each time. They just slip them on and off, but the laces because they are tied somewhat, aren't so long that you trip over them. Sort of a lazy solution for getting them on and off in a hurry. Could someone have thought they were doing you a favor?
sailyn Posted April 25, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 25, 2004 A few years ago people were tying the laces on their topsiders like that. I tried it but didn't like it. I can't imagine the room steward taking the time to do that, but they do fold those towels! Maybe they thought they were doing you a service.
