Having booked the celebrity[flexible] dining on a forth coming cruise[solstice]

can anyone answer do you book before travel or night before

or on the day for main dining room.

On any cruise line if you are booked on the flexible option you will be in the main dining room. It is only the specialty, extra tariff restaurants that you book separately.

Select dining on Celebrity is on the second floor of the main dining room---the MDR has two floors. If you so desire, you can make a reservation for that, but it's not necessary. The only places you need to make reservations for are the extra cost specialty restaurants, such as Muranos or Tuscan Grill.
