Loved the pics as a slide show. One of them appeared to be a starbucks drink. Is this available on the ship?

 

crap... sorry about that... We went to Starbucks on the morning we went to the ship as we had an hour to kill before checking out the hotel in Miami LOL. Didn't mean for that to be in there :P However, a Starbucks on a ship would make a fortune!

Looked a lot like my favourite frappucino. Got all excited for a moment especially as our nearest Starbucks, 7 miles away, is currently closed for refurbishment until around the end of June.

Are pictures #64 and #65 the new cut of lamb that they are serving in Le Bistro and Cagney's?

 

When we were on the Spirit a few weeks ago I was told they changed their specs for lamb. The cuts we got on the Spirit that week were very disappointing because they were on the thin side. These look much better than what was served on the Spirit.

John, we were on the Jewel in March and May and the lamb changed in Le Bistro. In May, it was actually thicker but fattier ... definitely not the same as before. I have never had it in Cagney's - only Le Bistro. Andreas mentioned in March that, since the horrific weather that has besieged New Zealand and Australia, lamb has been difficult to find and VERY pricey to get - upwards of triple the original cost. I got the same information from Hugo Vanosmael. He said there is a worldwide shortage, because of the floods in New Zealand, that is driving the prices through the roof. They changed to this cut which is still a chop but includes the tenderloin portion. The old "lollipop" cut that came from the rack is by far the most expensive cut of the lamb.

 

I was disappointed with what was served on the Spirit because it was cut too thin. They served 3 cuts at about 1/2" thick each, in both Le Bistro and Cagney's. When I talked to Hugo he said that it is up to the chef to define the cut portion and on the Jewel they are serving it at about 1 to 1 1/4" thick which would be great. We will see what we get on the Pearl in October.

It was good. just a bit fattier than normal. I'll be interested as well as I'll be on the Jewel for a month in October and escargot, lamb and creme brulee are my most favorites ... after the joy of the crew and reuniting of my other "family".

Hi I'm at work on my phone but is the pix your referring to like a chop thing? The only fee restaurant we ate at was modernos and the lamb chop at the end was TO DIE FOR! I only had room for 1 but would have happily paid the $20 for a few chops, the salad bar and the 3, yes 3 desserts you get! So yeah, I'd say skip the sausages and get more chops aha

That's the one, and also the picture right after it.

 

That is interesting I was hoping Moderno might have roasted leg of lamb instead of chops.

Is it unlimited meats at Moderno? And what was the service charge? The side dishes seem a bit disappointing though...white rice and fries are kind of blah.

 

It's $20 per person surcharge and you can have as much of the meats as you want. Our waited started bringing us a second round but we were too full. The side dishes were ok.. The fried banana was interesting. This restaurant also shares the salad bar with cagneys and it is an AMAZING salad bar. Soups, cold meats and heaps of different salads.. And then you get 3 desserts, plus you can get ice cream as well. Just make sure you go on an empty stomach!

 

Oh yeah... You also get some cheese rOll thingys before they being put the meat!

I loved the cruise but definitely wouldnt do a TA again... after day 7, our stop in Ponta Delgada, the last 3 days were very boring aha.

 

I'd LOVE to do the Epic on a 7 day caribbean, with a stop in St Maarten so i can see the planes close up!

Apparently TAs are good if you like to read.. Which I don't. After day 3 the weather was cool and too windy to sit on the top deck so everyone was just sitting on chairs inside and reading. Also, east to west mostly, 50+% of the passengers were European and not too friendly or sociable..

I love to read but dont get much chance to on a cruise, people I cruise with are always doing something:D

I am half German half Army brat:eek: and I try to be very sociable, I love meeting new people and making new friends so If I were on board I would have chatted your ear off LOL

I just fear rough seas on the TA trips so thats one reason I havent tried one, plus the airfare can be high flying to/from different ports as well.

I am really thinking hard about booking the epic especially since they have the single rooms and dont charge the 200 % like Carnival does, so I need to get with my TA and have him look into the possibility(next year as I am running out of vacation time for this year).Do you have a review posted? I would love to read it!!
