Do you want some Norwegian Epic Food Porn??

I'm going to be a bit of a wet blanket, but those first few pics posted by the OP (no offense re: the picture quality-that is fine!) looks like a piece of cheesecake from Old Country Buffet with an added chocolate curl, a cut in half egg roll from chinese buffet, etc. Unfortunately, with the popularity of upscale dining and restaurant business explosions, cruise line food is looking lackluster in photographs. It's quality or presentation is no longer a selling point for the major value lines (NCL, RCCL, Carnival, Princess), IMHO or experience.

But, I fully understand mass production of food and am fairly happy with NCL's food (I have just adjusted my expectations over the years...I'm just not sure if it's their changes or my own dining experiences that have changed my feelings about the food quality). It's just hard to show people food photos from the MDRs in particular and have them say, "Wow-that makes me want to cruise!" But if you say, "look at the food I got at each meal that day, including a room and ship ride for less than a dinner for two at {Insert high end restaurant name here}" then, yeah, I guess THAT is impressive!

I can see what you mean, they don't look anything special.. but to us they do because we had never really been to a good restaurant or had a 3 course meal before this cruise haha so to us it was WOW!

As for the spring roll pic, I actually cut it in half and positioned it like that... when it came out from the kitchen it was just 1 spring roll sitting on a plate with a little cup of sauce. I tried to make it look better ahaha

Sure none of the food was top top quality (moderno excluded) but for a first timer it was VERY impressive!

Now I'm really ready to go looking at all that food. I've only been on 3 of RCCL ships and the last cruise really disappointed with the food options that they offered. The only problem is I have to wait to December 2012 to experience all of this delicious food:p

  • 1 year later...

Funny I mentioned in an earlier post on this thread 'a cruise line would make a forturne with a Starbucks aboard' then suddenly they put in on the Allure of the Seas... where is my commission? :D
