Back to Back

My wife and I are looking at a 5 day back to back cruise next fall (Aug 2012). Any ideals

We have to fly from Canada so it is big bucks to get there and we did a b2b on the Freedom - absolutely loved it and would do in a blink again. Everyone got to know you - we did ATD and found wait staff that were awesome and asked for them all the time - they would actually save us a table knowing that we came at a certain time. We correspond to some of them to this day. You aren`t in a big rush to do every thing and we only did one excursion each cruise. We would just get off at a port and explore - never felt rushed and was the most relaxing cruise we ever did. If you want to know more detail feel free to ask or my email address is in my profile if you prefer that. Go for it - I envy you - we won`t be going again for another 2 years - all we can afford at this time of our lives. Good luck

I agree about the airline prices. This will be my first one also, in December. After much thought, I figure I may as well get my requirements in before they change the Platinum requirements in next year, so I made it a B2B2B.

From what i read, the b2b people get escorted off the ship, and right back on, after getting new sign and sail cards.

And if you have the same room, all the better, as you can just leave your stuff in the room.

You go and meet in the Library (at least we did) they have juice, coffee, muffins etc - they take you off the ship - you take all your IDs - boarding passes etc and then go right back on after getting new S&S cards - 1/2 hour at the most. We stayed off and made some calls etc and reboarded no problem. We did not have the same cabin but packed our stuff and left it in the cabin with a tip tucked into the handle - when we got back on all our stuff was transferred. We also did the "all you can stuff into a bag for $15 laundry" - we put 8 Ts- 4 polos-3 summer pants-4 shorts- 3 dress shirts in a bag and did not have to do laundry. They also gave us a fruit basket and bottle of champagne because we booked b2b.

That's a good idea to put a tip in the handle of the luggage. I will be sharing a room on my first two trips, same room both times, then I will wave Ta-Ta to my room mate while I stay on board. Different room.

If we have the same cabin, can we recheck in can we go back and sit on our balcony or do we have to wait until the halls to the cabins are opened?

I think it depends on your steward. Be sure to explain that you are doing a B2B the first leg and that you would like to hang out on the balcony if possible. Probably not a problem BUT its a great time to walk around the ship before the masses board, take photos, do some laundry, be first in line for the buffet or hang at the pool with no one else. Lots of nice options. There is not that long of time between the check in for leg 2 and the boarding of new pax.

Enjot!

We too are doing a B2B in Jan/Feb on the splendor MR cruise. Is the $15.00 laundry offered to all cruises for B2B people? Or will our steward know if it is coming for us....I don't want to spend the time doing my own laundry if I can use this convenience. We have the same cabin both times.

Also, was it Carnival who gave you the goodies, or a TA you used? We booked with Carnival for the first time..usually use an on-line TA, but there was no advantage this trip. Nice to get a Thank You from whoever it was!!

Yes they will have the 15 a bag laundry on both sailing (8 dayers). I am Plat and could get the freebie BUT I do not like the chemical smell of what they use. It is terrible and doesn't go away. Therefore I prefer doing own.

We did receive something special, think wine or champagne and maybe strawberries?

BTW if you collect the sign/sail cards be sure to ask for your 1st leg card back after you get the new one for the 2nd leg.

I have always kept mine as proof of sailings for my cruise history. I want to be sure when I hit Milestone that there is NO mistake.

we are considering a B2B for the fall....if you book it this way, do you get a discount on the prices listed or do we pay the price for the first cruise...then the second cruise.... ???

BTW, we are platinum with Carnival.....

On our B2B we had no problem going back to the cabin.. just let the steward know that we were planning on doing so;)

Hey there friend. I will email you my thoughts on CCL B2B. You will love it, but NO there is no cost benefit at all. Like mentioned earlier each sailing is booked as a separate one.
