My family and i will be cruising on the jewel end of october, to port Canaveral, GSC and nassau. What is there to do in port canaval and nassau if we are not looking to spend hundreds of dollars on excursions. We've been to disney, and to be honest, i do not want to spend upwards to $1000 for 1 day at a disney park (there are 6 of us..my wife and i, and 4 kids 9,11,15,17). Are there any beaches we could take a cab or shuttle to for the day? Same for Nassau, are we able to just find an area at the beach for the day?

Cocoa Beach is very close to Port Canaveral--it's where we take our beach days when we do our (land-based) Disney trips. We've always found it family-friendly, not excessively crowded, inexpensive umbrella & chair rentals. Nice beach day.

In Port Canaveral you can take the free shuttle to Cocoa Beach. Drops you off at a surf shop and the beach is about 10 minute walk away.

Nassau, the only free beach is near the pier. Check out the Bahamas Board for more information.

We took cheap ferry to Paradise Island in Nassau. Walked around the shop village and Marina in Atlantis and to the Casino (very nice). In Casino we found a tickets kiosk and bought passes to the Dig. Very nice! Walked around Atlantis.

Is the free shuttle still running to Cocoa Beach? I think I read somewhere that they stopped it.

Any info on this would be appreciated.
