BGI(Barbados)-LAX - layover in MIA????

If you've flown from Barbados to LAX through Miami, how much time did you need to comfortably catch the flight to LAX? Do you have to go through customs/immigration? Some of the connection times I'm seeing look a little tight. It would all be on the same airline, AA.

Arriving from Barbados, you will need to clear immigration and customs in Miami. MIA can be a zoo, especially if there are a lot of flights arriving around the same time as yours. I wouldn't be comfortable with less than two hours, and I'd probably want three.
