Photo Tour of the Sun - Aug 2011

Wow. These pictures make me so excited to cruise. I'm not even going to be on the Sun but it doesn't matter - I am craving interior shots of these ships.

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to post so many of them here instead of just Flickr. It's so much easier to feel a "flow" of the interior spaces when you can just scroll smoothly down them instead of having to click and wait for each individual photo.

Very well done! Thanks.

A rare shot of me on the other side of the camera...so you can now know who is snapping these pics. Having a peaceful lunch in the Seven Seas, after dropping carry-ons in the room.

Room - Layout

We were on 0267, an Aft-Facing Mini-Suite on Deck 10.

A great floor plan with loads of room. So comfortable.

(Took the advice of others and you should, too. Take the pictures of the room BEFORE you have had the chance of giving it that "lived-in look" )

Electrics at Desk... always bring a small 6-outlet power strip

Set up my "office at sea"...systems, camera charging, etc.

NOTE - the wireless internet on the Sun provides a robust signal literally everywhere on the ship.

The weather looks a bit chilly, was it?

You're in luck... it was pure San Francisco weather. :)

We really had a corridor of daytime sunshine follow us. We were blessed with sunny days in every port.

Temps were what I would call NY-early Fall. Mid 60's to low 70's mid-day; mid to high 50's at night.

Here's the last of the "around the ship" batch.

I will begin to upload port pics for our review.

Thanks so much for the pics; I will visit your Flickr page, also.

Our first cruise was for our 25th anniversary on the Sun, and I would love to sail her again for our 35th anniversary. A transatlantic in 2013..............dreaming. If she still has the Observation Lounge which a lot of ships lose during dry dock, and Great Outdoors were two of my favorite places.

Doesn't the Sun have a drydock coming up? I think the search function might be back here on CC, so I'll look. But if anyone has any information, I'd appreciate it. Do you think they will keep The Observation Lounge?

Thanks again, computerworks!

You're welcome!

The Sun had drydock earlier this year, I believe.

The Observation Lounge is still there... a beautiful lounge, with lots of quiet time and a great view. It was under-utilized... I think most people couldn't find there way there.

There was a Latitudes cocktail party there one day.

Thanks again, computerworks.

We loved the Observations Lounge, and I spent time there daily. I kept a cruise diary and wrote an article for my industry's local newsletter on my laptop daily from the lounge. Good memories for me; that's where I first tasted a favorite of mine, the chocolate martini! ;)

Loved the pictures and again I am so excited for Oct 15th to get here. A quick question in the Stardust lounge are the gold seats upfront for suite only passengers or what?

No, that first section is like Cabaret seating... the chairs are movable, with tables between them. They are open seating for all.

Suite area is upstairs in the balcony.
