We've got the Gem in Jan 2012. We've been on the Gem several times (including a "rocky" T/A last Fall), but I'll do the same photo tour pics...it's fun to do and nice to give back to the CC folks.

We were on that sailing, too! Even waves up to deck 12 didn't stop us from booking another T/A. Hoping we don't have the same experience this time.

Or water coming through the doors on deck 7, chairs and people toppling over and the closure of most of the dining areas. Bonine works wonders!

 Knock wood... I never get queasy. This was a pure E-Ticket ride.

(I think I have some video clips somewhere...I'll look tonite.)

Now would you pullleeeze tell me how to upload a full sized photo? All I get is the thumbnail. Thanks. :)

Use any Photo hosting site (like Webshots or Flickr) to upload your pictures.

Then, to insert them in a post, get the URL link (or Image Link/Location) of the desired photo and place it in the Insert Image box that pops up when you hit this icon -> insertimage.gif when composing a post.

I cannot thank you enough for posting these photos. We are sailing on the Sun next month and I haven't been able to find any photos of her on CC. Did you by any chance get any photos of the kids pool? We are bringing our kids and I am curious what that pool looks like.

I don't think so. It is way topside, on a different deck than the Pool Deck (Deck 11). We did see it and it was in a very nice, sheltered area.

Your pictures are fantastic. We are thinking of an 11 day Southern cruise on the Sun and wondered how it would compare to the Pearl (the only NCL I've been on). It looks great, buffet a little tighter but so what.

Thanks for sharing!!!

Updated to ask ... is there a large movie screen anywhere on this ship? One thing I didn't like about the Pearl was the large screen in the main atrium .. dumb location. Nothing like trying to enjoy the space with Wii being played on the big screen next to you. I don't see one outside in your pictures so perhaps there is none on this ship???

The hot tub is in the middle and the pool part is towards the wall of deck 11. The second shot is taken from deck 12 looking into the empty hot tub, and the pool part is the LIGHT blue water towards the bottom of the image. (The darker blue is the deck above the pool).

No big screen (atrium too small), no outside screen, no movie theater.

They did show a movie each afternoon in one of the Conference rooms.

Plus, ship TV had three movie channels (3 languages) that repeated reasonably recent movies in room. (free)

Thanks again' date=' computerworks.

We loved the Observations Lounge, and I spent time there daily. I kept a cruise diary and wrote an article for my industry's local newsletter on my laptop daily from the lounge. Good memories for me; that's where I first tasted a favorite of mine, the chocolate martini! ;)[/quote']

We spent 33 days aboard the Sun last September/October, b2b2b cruises, and the Observation lounge was my favorite too. I spent many quiet hours there reading on non-port days. I also kept a cruise diary (in a spiral notebook, not on laptop) and updated it daily, usually in the observation lounge, enjoying the scenes through the huge windows on three sides. I also enjoyed standing out on that small deck outside the observation window, in the bow, enjoying the view when we'd come into port.

THANKS, computerworks for the fantastic photos. They bring back happy memories. I'd love to sail aboard the Sun again.

Hi -- I LOVED your photos! Seeing them makes me even more excited for my upcoming Sun cruise.

I noticed one photo that said "smoking area, deck 12 aft". Other than the casino, do you know what the other public smoking areas are? Is the Great Outdoors still a place to grab a smoke? Just asking; my intention is not to start a smoking debate...

Thanks,

TracyE

One side of the pool deck, can't remember if it was port or starboard. Don't recall about the Great Outdoors, the one day i was out there it was so windy.
