Costa All inclusive drinks package

Hi Anne.

Just booked out drinks package. Sounds like J1. Costa on the phone called it "extra all inclusive" (and it includes the 15% service, and is paid for by CC over the phone BTW). our price would have come out around 19.50 per day. It IS confusing. COsta kindly sent me a list of included and excluded drinks - still unclear! Basically drinks available all day, like J2. just limited selection. So no "premium sprirts" - which includes Smirnoff etc, and confusingly "gin and tonic", but some cocktails ARE included - apparently it depends what spirits they are made with!!! Some beer brands included, and others not. Premium coffee (ie with liqeur)not included, but can order premium coffee and certain separate liqeurs and so on. NIGHTMARE. Just hope we're given a list on board, or we'll drive the waiters crazy. We're just chancing it that there will still be plenty to choose from.Makes it harder to decide when they can't tell you what drinks packages will be available on board, as this is decided "at the time, based on what they've stocked".

Think the J1 package would be more straightforward if they'd just made it any drink up to a certain price.

i have found in a spanish forum(infocruceros) this list from the costa concordia showing the included/not included(the ones with the i) in the pack:

I just booked to go on Costa atlantica for sept 13th eastern med :-)

£120 per day?? According to the link posted by G.M.T. it costs 19.50 Euro per day. Which is it?

£120 seems very expensive - you'd need to be a huge drinker to use that sort of allowance. The other figure seems a little low to me.

19.50 Euro works out the (depending on exchange rate) same as £120 for a 7 night cruise

I bought the extra inclusive package onboard this week at 16.96€ +15% service charge per day and wine was definitely included. sometimes I just had a glass (White, red & sparkling) othertimes they justngave me a bottle. This may have been a slightly different package but there were not that many exclusions - just stuff marked with an asteroid on the menu.

We (x2) are booked on the Costa Voyager (mid February - Monday/Monday).

Today through the TA, I have booked and paid for the 'all inclusive' drinks package , anything up to a value of 6.99 euros including soft drinks from the mini bar, £236.67 each, the TA stated it was the j2 drinks package.

I sailed around Dubia (Costa) similar time last year, the cruise okay, but had the j2 package which was magnificent.

Lot's of confusion when on the Costa site 19.5 Euro's / day etc.

Although when firming up the booking (web check-in), the AI is showing at 273 Euro's.. (with at an exchange rate of 1.15 = £237)

Here hoping it's the same as last years deal.

What you have booked is the replacement package for the old J2, but it is basically the same.

Have a great cruise.

Just thought I'd throw my 2 cents into this. My husband, daughter and I cruised on the Costa Pacifica in April 2011. We all enjoy wine with our meals, but I'm good with about half a glass and can easily skip. For them to get the wine package ($175 per person), we all had to have it, so I went along. The wines were terrible. The second day, we canceled the packages and was that a mess! We ended up talking with the head of the bar service for the ship - he was very nice, but completely agreed with us that the wines they offered were not very good. Later in the cruise we saw another passenger getting on board with one of the same wines we'd had - he bought it in port for $4. I'm only commenting on this one package, don't know anything about any of the others, but don't count on the quality of the wine!

I agree - the wine wasn't very good. It would be nice if there was more choice, even if it was just in the lounges.

Still, I found it worth it to be able to order things like cappuccino and the chocolates and a decent selection of mixed beverages and grappa without having to mentally tally the cost.

The thing Costa is really bad with is dealing with changes that involve $$ once on the ship. Like if you want to change an excursion you've already paid for, it's a hassle. It can be done - but it's a hassle.

Im NOT a fake or suspicious in any way

I joined to advise people of what I knew so thanks for the lovely welcome! made me feel a bit rubbish to be honest so thanks for that.

I was advised by thomas cook after they called costa while I was present that the all incusive drinks packages (other than the ones you can book to have with meals) are now discontinued

I was disappointed and wanted to advise others of what I knew

Im sure if u already have something booked you will be fine and its maybe just for new booings.

thanks for the vote of confidence GMT!

Yes they do , i booked through thomas cook a couple of weeks ago last minute and booked it on costa site, go to 'already booked' then addons or packages!

I just got back from a cruise where I had the All Inclusive Package and it was the best thing I ever bought. I was sailing with my friend and we really enjoyed being able to get wine with dinner (although neither of us really drinks wine it was still nice). You can also ask for other drinks at dinner, we generally got a glass of red or white wine and water and maybe a glass of sparkling asti martini which we really love. We saw other people getting beers and mixed drinks so you can really have a lot of choice. I don't drink terribly often but when I do drink I tend to drink a good amount. I would say that by buying this package my friend and I saved a few hundred euros. It was nice never worrying about the cost and we always had a drink in our hands (or at the table). I absolutely think anyone who plans on drinking even just a few drinks should get this package.

We are on our first ever cruise and will be emabarking at Marseille on the Costa Serena in 2 weeks time. Both of us like to have a glass or two of wine with our meal, is the drinks package worth buying for 19.50 euros per person per day?

Also can we indulge in any other drinks in this package throughout the day i.e coffee, water, fruit juices, beer or spirits!

Appreciate any help on this matter.

If all you want is a glass of wine or two with dinner than I would say no- It's not worth it. But yes it does cover things like coffee, watter (bottles of the stuff it's great you can grab a 1L bottle and then go to port with it) juice beer, and spirits/coctails.

If you plan on drinking at dinner and lunch and breakfast then it can be worth it. Or if you are like me and like a drink other times, like at the pool, casino, or bars then it is defiantly worth it.

i don't drink alcohol at all, and i thought it was well worth it. coffees, waters, virgin drinks, colas, juices...

for me, it was nice to not think about the cost, too, of paying ala carte.

I definitely thought it was worth it, although when I was on the Atlantica, I had to pay extra fro bottles of water. If I wanted them to pour me a glass, that was included.

I used it at breakfast to get a cappuccino and throughout the day for soft drinks, a beer or glass of wine at lunch, pre and post dinner drink and wine and water at dinner. It defy itely saved me money, even if you don't drink much alcohol, those other drinks soon add up to more than £20 per day
