Maria Affecting Bermuda

Have been watching the weather in Bermuda as we have friends on the Veendam right now. It looks like Maria will be producing high winds and rain. It is supposed to subside on Thursday just when they will heading back to New York. Guess there is just not a good time to go at this time of the year.

Sometimes things work out; but hurricane season extends until the end of November. Let's hope there is no severe damage done by this one or any others that may form this season.

It is 5 am here (Wednesday)

 

Forecast for today is cloudy periods with showers. Wind increasing to 35 knot gusts this evening.

 

The eye is expected to pass to our west Thursday mid morning and we can expect some rain with gusts up to 65 knots.

 

VEENDAM will be fine for her departure on friday but I'll bet there is going to be some moderate swells on the run back to New York.

 

Meanwhile I'm having dinner in Hamilton this evening with friends from the VEENDAM. Maria ain't going to ruin my evening!:)

That is good to hear that the Veendam will have just wind and rain to contend with on Thusday.

 

Right -- a bit of a rough ride back to New York on Friday.
