Has anybody ever gone to Disney from Port Canaveral and not done the Carnival excursion? Looks like a couple hundred dollars more to do excursion just for transportation.

we did. we were lucky to have a friend down there, so he picked us up, and delivered us back to the ship.

We have gone to Disney. We rented a car through budget and drove straight over...made sure we have ourselves plenty of time to get back and we were fine.

Most of the major car rental agencies are located either in PC or nearby Cocoa beach and offer shuttle service to/from the port. The drive to WDW will take at least an hour - be sure to leave with plenty of time to spare incase of a traffic issue on the way back to the ship. Good luck! :)
