What we discovered on the Allure

On Oasis last year, I was able to set up a private tour of Central Park with the ship's Horticulturalist. It was only private because no one else made a similar request on that particular day. The request was made at Guest Services.

I plan on asking for a similar tour next week while on the Allure. Hope they are doing it, although I've not read any posts regarding this on Allure.

Whether you're into plants or not, this was a very interesting tour explaining the names and characteristics of the plants as well as the story of how Central Park was planned and created.

Besides the MDR and the specialty restaurants are there other choices for dinner on the first night onboard? Such as, Johnny Rocket's, sandwich places, or a pizza place?

Complimentary food venues open for dinner: Promenade Cafe, Sorrento's Pizza, Windjammer (buffet), room service.

Not sure about Park Cafe, Boardwalk DogHouse, and WifeOut Cafe. I have an old document that says they are open for dinner, but we were on Allure a month ago and I don't recall if these were open during dinner time.

I didn't think too closely about this until I remembered the bracelet I never take off. It is a solid bangle and doesn't come off without considerable force. More force than a zip line arm waving panic might induce. I'll be wearing a long sleeved sun shirt over it.

Do glasses get to stay on? Landing might be difficult if people can't see. Will pack some eyeglass retainers/cords.

Eye glasses must be removed, even if using a retainer/cord. Anything that has the possibility of falling off (could injure people below) or getting caught on something. The retainer/cord could get caught on the equipment.

Hi there Tagsalong!

Yep, I remember seeing just such a tour... But it was listed in the daily Compass to just show up. Oh, my, I just noticed the date of your sailing! Sorry I'm late on this reply and hope you enjoyed it all on the Allure.

We are doing a b2b on the Allure next Sunday. Can you please tell me your experience on turn around day? Did they give you lunch in the main dining room or another venue?

It was a good experience... except for breakfast. If you plan to sleep in---don't expect to get served in the MDR or Windjammer! They close at 8:30. Read the "Daily Planner" the night before. (We didn't get one, so we didn't understand the early closings.) There was breakfast snack in the MDR (coffee, tea, juice, danish) for those continuing for the second week about 10am.

We were then asked to show our ID and swap out our SeaPass for the next week with the Ship Officers; escorted off the ship, into the terminal to go through customs; escorted back on board to the special MDR section and given a wonderful lunch just for those of us continuing.

Next you settle down to read or relax somewhere. Watching the "newbies" explore the ship and trying hard not to become a tour guide is a good trick!

You're in for a great time. I hope the weather is not as hot for ya!
