Pride Review to BERMUDA...9/18-9/25 lots of pics & details!!!

Saturday morning, last sea day :(......we actually got up pretty early, so we decided to eat in the Main Dining Room, again sat at a table with about 3 other couples, this time we sat with some people from Canada! We had nice conversations, as I have been to Montreal Quebec and the Toronto Ontario area a couple times, so they were from somewhere near Montreal, can't remember the exact name but anyway we had nice discussions about all sorts of things, health care in the us versus in canada, and several other things. They went to St. George the day before and told us all about that and everything they did while in Bermuda.

After breakfast, Joe was itching in his britches :p to go back to the casino to win his money he had lost the first night back, well let me say, I am glad he went back!! LOL I went back to the room after breakfast to get a couple things and I told him I would meet him there in a bit. He went straight to the casino. He sat down at the $1 Wheel of Fortune machine, and put a $100 bill in, he said he spun the wheels MAYBE 5 times, and hit for $1000!!! He couldn't believe it!! So he stayed playing until I got there and hit $800 a couple spins later BEFORE I walked up.

When I walked up he had these white slips of paper, he was smiling big (of course I had no idea he had won!) and he told me what happened, I said you are kidding right??!!! He showed me the proof, he wasn't kidding! We were so excited!! :p So he told me to take them to the window to cash them, so I did, well you wouldn't believe it but while I was at the window, he hit AGAIN for $400 this time. It was unbelievable! So after I cashed his $, I sat down at a machine beside his and put in $100, well I wasn't having any luck so I got up and watched Joe play. He played the $400 until he got down to $200 and then cashed out. So we were happy campers leaving that place!! So we went to the room to reorganize, and we even took some of the cash down to pay toward our s&s bill. So we went back to the room, and watched a movie for awhile. I wanted to go play 5 for 1 Bingo in the Taj Mahal. There were 5 games, so I had 5 chances to win!!

So 3:00 came pretty quickly, and I went to go play. Joe wanted to go play blackjack, so he did while I went to bingo. Unfortunately, his luck wasn't rubbing off on me!! I did come close once, I only needed 1 more #, but oh well it was fun anyway! :)

The next day, debarkation, we had the smoothest probably that we have had yet. First let me say, unlike the Conquest we went on last year, they do not wake you up at 6am saying we gotta get off the boat, yada yada......they never bothered us in our staterooms with no announcements! We were to be back in Baltimore at 9am. We were up and ready before that and said goodbye to our stateroom and headed to the Lido for a last buffel meal on the Lido deck. We sat and relaxed for awhile.

We didn't do self assist, so we had zone 9. About 10:30am, we were called for our zone, we headed down and all was as smooth and organized as ever! After we got off the ship, our bags were sitting right there waiting on us! Our flight back home wasn't until 4:00pm, so we headed onto the airport about 11:00am.....luckily had smooth flights back home, now back to the grind! :)

Well, I have come to the end of my review of our wonderful trip to Bermuda!!! I hope each of you have enjoyed it and I have helped some of you decide where you need to go on your next cruise!! :)

Here is 2 pictures to close on:

Did you guys eat at David's Steakhouse? We were there on Friday night and I had the 24 oz porterhouse and all I can say is wow! Great quality meat served there. I can't believe I ate the entire steak! I was ready to roll back to my cabin after that meal. Bob:)

What a great review ! In 10 days we will be headed right there. Your review has really been an exciting preview for our first trip to Bermuda. Thank you SO much.

Do you know what time the shops at Kings Wharf open ? The Glory will leave at noon as well, but I doubt we will even leave the ship that day.... I can't walk that fast, let alone run !!!! LOL

Delta Dear asked: ....Do you know what time the shops at Kings Wharf open?...

A small correction first. There are no shops at KW. KW is one of 2 wharves located at the Dockyard where a cruise ship docks. The other wharf is Heritage Wharf. The only building located on KW is the Visitor Information Center.

The Clocktower Mall is open seven days a week, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. from April 1 to December 31, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. from January 1 to March 31.

The shops outside the mall open at various times. Suggest reading here: http://www.experiencebermuda.com/dockyard/

Thank you so much for your great pictures and commentary. We will be in Bermuda (probably docked at Hamilton, as we are on a smaller ship) next April, and all the info you've given here is helping me sooooo much in planning the trip!!! And I've honestly never heard of anyone being so lucky on the Wheel of Fortune!!!

This is great-we are hoping to sail on the Pride in April 2012. Everyone says go to the Bahamas, but I am thinking Bermuda might be an option after reading your post.

Janice we are days from booking the April cruise to Bermuda ourselves. We did the Bahamas on the Pride last year and it was nice. But Bermuda is somewhere none of us has either been to or has not been to in more than 30 years. My only concern is the weather. We have always gone cruising in the Spring and it has always been to the "warm" caribbean. But with the way the weather patterns seem to be changing here on the east coast who knows what to expect. Maybe we'll be cruisemates, who knows.

Katie and Joe,

Excellent review and very informative. I especially was happy to see the fun times pictured. This will be our 10th with Carnival (April 2012) making us VIP Platinum. But it will be our first docked overnight anywhere. My dh is concerned about things being closed on the ship (CASINO!!!!) while in port. But now I can show him how much there is to do between the island and the ship. It sounds and looks beautiful. I just hope it is warm enough in late april to appreciate the beaches. If you get a chance to find the website or # for the Bermuda travel & tourism, it would be greatly appreciated. We too like to plan for months in advance. That night cruise tour of the Bermuda Triangle sounds like fun. Maps are good too, lol. Thank you for all the info and photos.

Katie, thank you for giving me such an enjoyable few hours reading through your cruise week! We will be in Bermuda the first few days in May at the end of our Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Summit. I too am extremely organized and have booked outside excursions in the other ports. I've been in 'Bermudaland' the past week or so, thinking how to plan the day and 1/2 we will be there. Taxi? No taxi? Excursion? NO excursion? So much we want to do, so little time! Not sure if it will be swimming on the beach weather at the beginning of May, but we sure do love the beach!

For our first 1/2 day, I think we want to walk to 'Sea Glass Beach' (which is about 25 minutes from dockyard) to pick up a bunch of seaglass in the sand. Other than that, I'm still in research mode! I would LOVE to go to Horseshoe Bay-it looks so beautiful!

I didn't notice if you went to St Georges's at all??

That has got to be one of the Top 10 cruise reviews ever written on this site. Thanks so much for your time and effort. I think you guys should get a $$$ kickback from the Bermuda tourist council; as I'm sure many folks will now visit based on your report !

The photo on page 7 that is 1/2 water and 1/2 clouds/sky is so cool ! I'd love to use that as a wallpaper on my computer. Is there a way you could send me the photo file via email ? Copying and saving it did not work - it distorted the image.

Thank you!! 10 days will be here in no time!! Yipee!!! :) You are welcome & I am so glad my review has helped you!

While we were there, most of the shops in the area were open from 9-6, and the craft market was open later, Im thinking 9pm. I just can't remember the exact time we went there? But I know it was before our Fantasea Bermuda Triangle cruise, so it was almost 8pm at that point. You should have plenty of time to get to them on your 1/2 day, that is if you don't oversleep like I did! :p

Great review...loved it all. Now I have to put Bermuda on my cruise list. My husband isn't going to like this. After each review, my list is getting longer & longer :)

I can totally relate to that!! I can promise you though, he will enjoy Bermuda just as much as you!!!

Thank you SBts! I knew it was something like that!....and for all you readers, the guy that posted this above, he is VERY resourceful on Bermuda. So, if you have any questions, he is great on the knowledge of the island and knows a lot of the stops for the buses, etc. I know before we left, I asked several questions and he was always good to answer!

Regarding the Wheel of Fortune....I still can't believe he got so lucky!!! Even the guy that had to write out his winnings was in shock, but hey every now and then you get lucky, guess it was just his day! :)

Believe it or not, but the "weather" was calling for rain ALL 3 DAYS we were docked in Bermuda! I guess we got lucky, because it didn't rain a drop any of those days! Also, speaking of weather it was pretty warm and humid while we were there. Think it was in the low to mid 80's but add humidity and its even hotter! We still had a blast but April may be the best time to go when its not quite as hot! Hope you decide to go to Bermuda!! You will not regret it!
