[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]As excited as I was for Cozumel, Krystal was more excited about visiting Jamaica. Honestly, she’s a stalker of all things Bob Marley including his offspring. HAHAHAHAHA. So for her, this was like visiting the Promise land. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]This was the only excursion I booked directly through Carnival. We were only in OR for 7 ½ hours and this excursion lasted 5 ½ hours so there was no way I was taking a chance with a non Carnival vendor. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][/FONT][/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]This was my 3rd time visiting Jamaica. The first time was an All Inclusive [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]
[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]resort in OR, which was wonderful. The 2nd time was on the Destiny with my family and it was not a great experience. The poor kids were scared to swim in the murky water at the beach we’d gone to and my aunts were annoyed and maybe even a bit frightened by the pushy street vendors. I had made the decision to walk to Island Village and then take a taxi to a local beach. Not one of my better ideas. It was fine for me, but not everyone in my family was comfortable being offered marijuana on the street and walking past wild goat, hahahahah. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]So, I say all that to say…..this was a totally difference experience! If you’re visiting Jamaica, it’s best to go on an organized ship sponsored excursion. As soon as we stepped off the wooden walkway from the ship we were whisked into a huge room with signs hanging identifying different excursions. We were then called by our leader to follow her to the bus for our Bob Marley Bus tour. It seemed as though they were really making an effort to shield us from being approached by any local vendors. But it was wonderful. We board our bus and began our 2 hour trek up into the mountains to the Bob Marley Foundation.[/B] [/FONT][/SIZE]

[B][SIZE=4][FONT=Calibri]While I am not necessarily a Bob Marley (or if you’re talking to Krystal, it’s just “Bob”) fan, I enjoy good music and he has some good stuff. So I didn’t mind that the entire 2 hour ride to the Foundation really loud Bob music and videos were played. If you don’t like reggae or REALLY loud music or if you get car sick or if a bus horn honking every 5 minutes is not your thing…..this is not the excursion for you! HAHAHAHAH[/FONT][/SIZE][/B]

[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=4][B]The ride into the mountains is VERY long and treacherous. The road is extremely narrow, they drive on the opposite side of the street and most of the trip I spent staring down the edge of a mountain road cliff. If we had gone off the road we could have easily dropped 30 feet or more in some places. If you’ve ever seen the tv show, Ice Road Truckers in India…..you know what I mean by the roads and horns, hahahahah[/B][/SIZE][/FONT]
[B][FONT=Calibri][SIZE=4][/SIZE][/FONT][/B]
[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=4][B]In order to announce coming around a blind corner, which is every 5 minutes, the driver basically laid on the horn the entire trip. I’m a bit adventurous, so this was all very fascinating for me. Krystal had her eyes closed and prayed to baby Jesus the whole ride, LOL.[/B][/SIZE][/FONT]

[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=4][B]Before we arrive at the Foundation, our tour guide tells us that those who wish to partake in the local “smoke” may do so. There is a window at the Foundation for purchasing weed. She also said if anyone offered us brownies NOT to take them because they are too strong. We were told there will be signs indicating that marijuana is illegal, but that it’s legal to smoke on the foundation. Then she gave a statement about her company not endorsing the smoking of marijuana followed by, “you’re all adults”. LOL[/B][/SIZE][/FONT]

At times this little girl was funny as she sang Marley songs, but it became uncomfortable as she started begging for people to “Please, leave something for me”. Even if you wanted to give her something, she was too far away to reach. And her voice was heard the entire time we were touring. [/B][/SIZE][/FONT]

No more ships on a stick for us. However, next cruise…..IT…..IS…..ON! There was another slot tournament at 1pm. This time I didn’t even place! Man! What is going on with me?!?!? After all this losing I decided it was time to pack up, so we went to our cabin and began the depressing act. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]After packing we went to the Promenade and people watched, while we played cards. I can’t believe we didn’t play cards before today. It was really fun. I hadn’t played in so long. Also, this was the first time I ever had sushi on a[/B] [B]ship. The salmon sushi was actually really good!!! Why did I wait so long? [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][B]We had zone 16 which wasn’t scheduled to be called for debarkation until about 9:30am. We decided to do the relaxed debarkation as opposed to self assist where you take your own luggage off the ship. We were sitting at Lido eating breakfast a little after 8 and our zone was called at about 8:40am.[/B][/SIZE][/FONT]
[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]After not being able to get an elevator going down, we walked from lido on 9 to the exit on deck 3. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]We had claimed our luggage, cleared customs, hailed a taxi and were at the airport before 10am for our 12pm flight from MIA to BWI. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]


[FONT=Calibri][SIZE=3][B]Other than my wedding cruise, which will always be my favorite, this was by far my next favorite cruise to date! The weather was great, the ports were wonderful and the ship was gorgeous. We were told that Ocho Rios is being replaced next year by 2 other island and with the Liberty getting the new enhancements, I wouldn’t hesitate sailing her again!!![/B][/SIZE][/FONT]

[SIZE=3][FONT=Calibri][B]Here I am during debarkation. I’m wearing the “Winning Isn’t Everything But It’s Pretty Much The Best Thing” t-shirt that I won for making it to the finals of the 1st slot tournament. [/B][/FONT][/SIZE]

The slot tournament qualifying rounds were from 1pm until 3:45pm. There are 8 machines designated as tournament machines. At 3:45pm the top 8 scoring players are put on a board. If you make the top 8, you get to play in the finals. The sole winner gets a $500 prize.

There is a $20 entry fee. You purchase an entry card from the cashier, take it to the person running the tournament and sign up for a time and machine (1-8). You play for 5 minutes just pressing the button.
