If we book our heli dog sledding through Princess, and its cancelled due to bad weather, will we get a full refund?

 

Do you have to prepay this excursion or not until you get on the cruise?

All tours, no matter how booked, IF canceled by the operator are fully refunded.

 

It depends on how you book, when payment is required.

In September 2011 we were booked thru Celebrity for a dog sledding excursion and helicopter transportation to the site. We did not know it was cancelled til we got down to the bus boarding area and found the girl with the sign for the appropriate excursion.It was cancelled at the last minute (very disappointing) and they immediately refunded our money to our ships account. They offered several other alternatives for us and we accepted the Helicopter tour and walking on the glacier. We were so glad we had taken the ground tour to Husky Homesteads with 4 time Iditarod Champion Jeff King while on the land tour prior to boarding the ship in Skagway.

The nice thing about cruise ship reserved tours at least with Princess is you book and are reserved/guranteed when they open, but you technically don't pay till you pay up you shipboard account.

 

Things like the helicopters tours have to be canceled early ( if memory serves me correctly within 24 hours of sailing due to high demand ). IF IT IS CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER YOU GET FULL REFUND. In this case it is credit back on your shipboard account.

 

If you go direct they do bill your card at time of reservation and of course if canceled due to weather etc.... get credit back but that could be months later :D

 

My recommendation book early or late in the day so you can plan others things so if canceled it doesn't ruin your whole days port activities.
