Lido question

I will be on my first HAL cruise (9th overall). Does the buffet have alot of fresh fruit and a good salad bar? What about the hot dishes, any favorites? Thank you.

The salad bar on the Lido is great. There's lot of fresh veggies and several prepared salads as well.

The fruit..well..they try. There's a fresh fruit bowl in every cabin with apples (green apples help with seasickness) and oranges. There's some fruit in the lido, but it's not always ripe.

 

Fav hot food - Pizza and the stir fry that is cooked to order.

We haven't been on the Zuiderdam since Sept '03.. but IMHO it had the best buffet on all the ships we have sailed - Costa & Celebrity.

Rotissory chicken (and this from someone who doesn't care for chicken; can't even spell it!)

Any of the carvings du jour.

The bread pudding is worth the trip.

Can't get a bad meal there no matter how hard you try! :D

We had lots of fresh fruit in Aug, perhaps it depends on the time of seasons :)

The Zaandam last December had the best fruit of any HAL cruise I've been on. The watermelon was so sweet it was almost like candy. I thought the salad bar was average.

 

What I like most about both the salad bar and fruit in the Lido is that I didn't have to wash, peel, and slice it. :D
