Liberty or Jewel?

I wasn't a huge fan of the Millenium ... seemed horizontally cramped to me ... though it was fine.

I went through the Jewel/Liberty choice for December and settled on Liberty. While I like the Radiance class and the Jewel specifically, some of my favorite things on RCI are the Diamond Lounge and the ice shows ... both of which the Liberty have. Throw in that the Liberty also has a full show (Saturday Night Fever ... not thrilling for me, but better than nothing) instead of a mash-up production show. One final thing ... I much prefer Port Everglades to Tampa ... all it takes is one bad experience with a ship not being able to navigate the channel into the Port of Tampa (winds, traffic, etc) and Everglades just feels a bit safer to me for an earlier flight back home.

We are just Platinum so the Diamond Lounge is not a concern for us but I do love the ice show, it never fails to fascinate me. We also like the comedian shows but really don't bother w/production shows. We'd rather be in the casino or relaxing on the balcony I guess. We've sailed out of Tampa 2 or 3 times and never had a problem but it's good to know there could be problems there. I guess I won't make too early a flight back home then.

Thanks for all your comments. We just booked the Jewel for Jan 26 4-night. The price for a balcony was about the same as Liberty but we were able to snag an aft balcony on the Jewel so that was the deciding factor. We had an outside cabin our first few cruises and then won a cruise at bingo on a Carnival ship and got a balcony. Since then, we haven't been able to cruise without one :) We've never had an aft balcony though, and I've read that the Radiance class ships have some of the best aft balconies so this would be a good opportunity to try one I think.
