Do you have any pics inside the ship at the public areas or in the dining room. If so, would love to see them.

Yes I do, but it will be this evening when I get home before I can post them.

Thanks to Nolagirl for showing me how to get the pics in. Though I used flickr.

Btrbill,

What floor was your cabin on? We are sailing the Elation, her sister, in January and have an OV on the Riveria. I am actually wondering if you can sit in the windows.

Thanks for your review,

Wendy

Wendy, we were on the Riveria Deck, about midships... No, you cannot sit in the window, unfortunately.

One Correction I need to make for the last day I posted about...

After leaving Cozumel, and dinner and all, One thing my wife and I wanted to do was participate in the Carnival Quest that was held at 11pm. Basically, it is an "adult" scavenger hunt that was held in the Starlight Lounge. It was a lot of fun, but you could tell the questions were the same ones always asked, and there were several previous players in the room. But thats ok, we had a wonderful time and meet some really cool folks playing that game.

After that, we went back to the Neon Bar and listened to Frank... Heck, he even made me sing "Chantilly Lace!" If you get a chance to hear him on a ship, take advantage of it!! He does several impersanations while singing that make you wonder if he is really who he says he is!!

Next up... The last sea day...

The Last Sea day...

We sleep in a little this morning since we had a pretty late night, but still woke in time to brab some breakfast. We had wanted to try to participate in the Love and Marriage game, but kinda blew it off since we woke up a little late.

After breakfast, we walked up to the shops to look at a watch, and heard the laughter from the Blue Sapphire lounge. Always one to enjoy a good laugh, we walked in and looked on stage... And imagine my suprise when I saw my parents on stage as participants!!!

The there were three couples... One had been married 4 days, one about 20 years, and my folks who have been married for 53 years!! They had already asked the questions and written down the answers, and were beginning to reveal the answers. This should be interesting...

The answers were pretty funny, but pretty typical. But it was the last one that really got things going!! I have seen a few variations of the question here on CC, but the one asked here was, "If you the Husband were stranded on a deserted island for one year, who would you most like to see? A hooker or a missionary?"

Young couple husband answers, "Hooker." His wife answered "missionary. Because it wouldn't be me!" Opps... Don't want to be him tonight!!

Middle couple both answer "Hooker." But the audience erupts when the rest of her answer is read... "Because he would be horny!"

Lastly is good ole Mom and Dad... Steve Cassell (CD) looks at Dads answer, drops his jaw and shakes his head, then looks at Moms answer... and slaps his head. Finally says, "Ok, lets do hers first. Hooker... becasue he would be horny!" Crowd erupts again and dad shakes his head on stage... The Steve says, "And his says... A hooker... in the missionary position!"

Mom turns red, the audience goes crazy, and I stand up and yell, "Thats my Pop!!" The people in front of us turn and ask if that is really my Mom and Dad, and I proudly say, Of Course!!

All three couples are crowned winners and each is given a shiPP on a stick and a bottle of champagne. We go down to meet up with Mom and dad, but the crowd around them is shaking thier hands, laughing, and treating them like Rock Stars!! We wait our turn, then hug them and laugh together!!

We walk out to go look at some new pictures from the port the day before, then go up to see the end of the ice carving demonstration. This was the end product... A Mayan Chief Head.

After a quick trip to the rooms, we met up again on the Lido and had some lunch from the buffet. Then back to the Promenade to listen about the FCC's. Christy did a good job in explaining everything (Even though we had already bought one FCC right as we boarded) as well as the Carnival MC, and the upcoming trips and relocations of several ships. we ended up buying another FCC right after her presentation.

And, since they were setting up the Build-a-Bear workshop right across from the FCC desk, we got in line to see what they had. Being a big supporter of St. Judes, (they had a bear that all proceeds went to St. Judes) we bought one and choose a close table to assemble it. About that time, Mom pulls out some cards and asks if we wanted to play. We finish up the bear and the Wife heads down to the cabin to go put it up. Since this cruise was our anniversary present to each other, I went back to the table right as they were breaking it down and bought another bear, with a Carnival Cheerleader outfit. Getting back to the table, as looked like a one-armed man hanging wallpaper trying to get it stuffed and dressed before she came back.. I finished with about 30 seconds to spare! Needless to say, she enjoyed the present and the thought...

We played cards for the next several our there on the Promenade deck. It was kinda cloudy outside and getting a little cooler as we approached shore, so it was nice to be inside, relaxing, and spending some fun time with my parents. We sat through a trivia game, and some very loud karioke!! And all during this time, random people would stop by the table to thank Mom and dad for making them laugh, and telling Dad he was thier new hero!! I will say, until the time we cleared customs, he was treated like a rock star! He even had a guy ask for his autograph!!

After several hours of playing cards, it was time to get ready for our last night in the MDR. It was kind of bittersweet, becasue we felt we had become friends with Ryan, Gilbert an Arsana, and we knew this was the last time we would see them. As always, they did not disappoint us, and they made sure we did not leave hungry!

Back to front of the ship for a drawing, but I cannot remember for what (there were so many of them) and then it was to the stern for the comedy shows! We were not going to miss Mutzy for anything!! Again, he was awesome, even in the family friendly show!

Between shows, I decided to use a $5 matchplay I had forgotten I had until just then. I went to the Casino, got my certificate and walked up to the Blackjack table. I put down the certificate, and my $6 minimum bet on the first spot. She subs the certificate for a chip and grabs for a card. First card up was an ACE!! No way, I thought... the dealer flips up a Jack...Back to me, the next was... a QUEEN!! The dealer checks her cards... and... reaches for chips!! I grab my chips, walk to the cashier, and she gives me a crisp $20 bill!! Back to the lounge I go, a little pep in my step.

The rest of the night was spent watching comedy, then hustling back to the cabin to pack real quick and get the luggage out before midnight! Fianlly, we crawl in bed about 1 am, knowing we would have to be off the ship in mere hours...

Disembark...

We were set up for Zone 6, and decided to do the regualr disemarkation. We had too much luggage to try to do self-assist, so after we got up and dressed, we met up with Mom and Dad for our last breakfast on the ship. We went to the MDR and requested our waitstaff, and were pleased to get them one more time. Since there was very few people in there, they had plenty of time to talk to use about thier life on the ship, thier families, and what the future held. They were looking forward to going to PC, but only because it would be a change in the ports they went to. Each had about 3 months left on thier contract, upon which they would go home until thier next contract started. i asked if they had downtime on the repositioning trip, and they laughed. Nope, it was to be spent literally scrubbing down the entire ship and making sure everything was in order upon arrival in PC. We wished them good luck, and my wife told them we would be back to see them on the Ecstasy one day soon from PC.

After breakfast, we took one more walk around the ship, then grabbed out things and got in line. The had not called Zone 6-10 yet, but it been quite a while since they started and the line was dwindling. When we were about 10 people from the gangway, they called for zone 6-10! Talk about perfect timing!! It took about 10-15 minutes from the time we exited the ship until we got to Customs. We were not really in a hurry since both my wife and I had to work in town that afternoon, but for some reason, I felt rushed. Anyway, we located all but one bag very quickly, but it took a little time before we found the other. It had been left in the Zone 5 area...

Using a porter, we got in line for customs, and within 10 minutes were through and walking to the car. Very quick and painless!!

After leaving the port, we had to go to the airport so we could drop off my parents. My wife called the house to let them know we were back, and everything was ok. In a panic, my daughter said someone had called and we had left a bag at the terminal!! No way!! I counted every bag, as did my Dad, and we KNEW we had all our bags. But to be safe, we called the number my daughter gave us. A very anxious lady answered the phone and asked if we had the right red suitcase. I assured her I did as ours had a lime green piece of batik cloth on the handle, ass well as a purple ribbon. She said she knew becasue she was looking at it!! Confused, I asked about her bag. She said it looked exactly like mine... even had a purple bow and lime green clith on the handle!!!! Since we were about 3 minutes from the airport, I told her I would call her right back.

Upon parking... yep, we had her bag!! We dropped off Mom and Dad and headed back downtown. We had been wondering what to do with 3 hours... now we knew!! We called her back, and she told us an agent from customs would meet us to swap bags. When we got there, I grabbed the bag and went looking for the agent. I quickly found them and placed the bags next to eachother... When I say they were identical... I mean they were identical!! The only differance was mine had a red plastic luggage tag that hers did not. Otherwise, both had the same purple bow and ugly lime green cloth!! The agent was amazed, and quickly took her bag to her. (They wouldn't let her clear customs without her bag). We called her, apologized profusly, and then laughed at it all!

So, for a first cruise, one that we paid just over $500 for, it was more than I expected!! The value was great and I would do it again in a heart beat. As a matter of fact, we are!! In January!! I have read several negative reviews of the ship here on CC, and it makes me wonder why there are so many variations. All I can say is I am a fairly simple person, that understands good value, good service, and quality. I do not frequent high-end resturants, casino's, or all-inclusive resorts. I am middle class and know what it means to work for a living, so I do not set my expectations unreasonably high. I had a GREAT time, and cannot wait to sail on the Elation in a few months. The Conquest will be next, followed either by the Magic or one of the ships out of Miami. After that, who knows!!

Happy Sailings everyone!! Maybe we will bump into each other on an upcoming cruise!

Thank you! Great review....give your Dad kuddos from us....love a man with a great sense of humor!

What a story about the suitcase. Funny. :D

Thanks! I will pass it on to him. I must admit, though, he told us on the way home that he really didn't write down the part about being in the missionary position. Steve DID script that. The rest was all on the up and up!!
