Keith Rita Posted November 14, 2011 #1 Share Posted November 14, 2011 Last week we printed our online boarding passes for the first cruise of our B2B cruises on the Ryndam. It's a seven day cruise with two formal nights and five smart casual nights. Today we were able to print the documentation for the 6 day second cruise. We were very surprised to learn it will have no formal nights and only smart casual nights! This seems odd to us. What do you think?

In my view, formal nights should be discontinued/eliminated & only have "smart dress casual" nights! :) And think of the reduced weight in your checked luggage! ;)
cruz chic Posted November 14, 2011 #4 Share Posted November 14, 2011 :) And think of the reduced weight in your checked luggage! ;) Actually my formal wear is quite light so my suitcase would probably be more heavy.
jtl513 Posted November 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted November 14, 2011 It is odd. Maybe it is some kind of a test to see what the passenger reactions are.
Sanlin Posted November 14, 2011 #6 Share Posted November 14, 2011 It's the same on the Jan. 2 Westerdam - no formal nights. One would have been fun - it's nice to dress up once in a while.

Nothing preventing you from dressing up formal one night--do not need the ship to tell you to do so--just do it. BG

Like you, we will miss the formal night. I must admit I like looking at Rita in one of her formal gowns!;)
PatsyAnne Posted November 14, 2011 #9 Share Posted November 14, 2011 DH would be thrilled. He'll probably be checking on the Maasdam now. My formal wear is much lighter than his, and this would help his packing. Something like, one set of formal wear = three things he would like to wear.
Cate M. Posted November 15, 2011 #10 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Got our e-docs today for the 2nd of January 11 day cruise aboard the Maasdam and we have three formal nights. Probably will skip one of the nights. Cate M.
jthibeault Posted November 15, 2011 #11 Share Posted November 15, 2011 Our 6 day cruise on the Eurodam in January didn't have any formal nights either. At the time, we were told that there weren't any formal nights on 6 day cruises. Our group still coordinated our own formal nights. :D
