Voyager / Mississippi River question

Apparently when you leave New Orleans, you cruise down the river for quite some time (not sure how long) before you are into the Gulf. What things should we look for or are we likely to see? (if anything, seeing as how it will most likely be fairly dark)

Seems like it takes about 6-7 hours to go from the Riverwalk to the mouth of the MS. Yes...it is dark all the way...especially this time of year. You will see some small villages, docks, etc.

If you look out at just the right time (around 11:10 IIRC), the ship will pass the Conquest near the lower MS coming back to NO. You will also see oil rigs right after you enter the Gulf.

It takes about 8-9 hours to go down the Mississippi before getting into the Gulf.

I am posting a link below that may be of some interest to you.

Unless it's a full moon you won't see much at all.

Even with the full moon, we still couldn't see much of anything until we got down to the oil rigs (which are brightly lit). Same thing coming back.

And the moon was very pretty, shining over the water. :)

Depends somewhat which side of the river you watch...on the Western bank I believe there is a lot more development going down as it is by the road to Venice (Louisiana, not Italy:eek:). Lots of PertoChemical stuff along that side...East side has some as well but less.

Of course ride up during a fog bank invasion of the river and you don't see much...
