Silver Anniv Posted March 25, 2006 #203 Share Posted March 25, 2006 We're set to sail on New Year's Eve. Such a longgggg wait! Give's me plenty of time to prepare! I wonder what Carnival does for New Year's Eve, by midnight we should be out in the ocean under the moon and stars I've enjoyed reading everyone's comments on the Valor, keep them coming. ToniH Posted April 10, 2006 Author #204 Share Posted April 10, 2006 I have two weeks and then I will be on the Valor (4/23). I will be sure to post a review and answer any quetions. Can't wait to leave rainy Washington for sunny Florida and Eastern Caribbean. Although I have to say, it was sunny today with just a light sprinkle in Western Washington. c&a'smom Posted April 14, 2006 #205 Share Posted April 14, 2006 ToniH, I also loved the Destiny thread when we were planning our cruise last February. Now we have decided to look into booking the Valor. I told my husband that I would not book anything without doing a little research on Cruise Critic first. Hope you have a great time and looking forward to your review! Always appreciate pictures too............. :) A NW native, Sara

june1300 Posted April 15, 2006 #207 Share Posted April 15, 2006 we were on the valor in august 2005, there were 3 of us, DH, DS (age 9) and myself, it was our 4th carnival and 6th cruis overall. We return to Carnival as it seems to be the best value for us as a family (we have done RC and Princess with out CHildren and it was wonderful) Over all we had a great time we had an ocean view. we did have a few blips such as a missing person at 3-4 am ish where they made loudspeaker announcements (understandable, it ended up being a teen who damaged something and didnt want to face up to parents). Also we let DS run up to the lido deck for some ice cream during the art auction and he got stuck in the elevator by himself for about 20 min before they were able to get him out. He was a trooper and started yelling for help as hi didnt know how else to call for help. staff was great as they asked where parents were and he was able to tell them so they came to the auction and did the Is any one missing a child named so and so he is stuck in the elevator and they took me right to him....got him a big plate of shocolate goodies when he got off and got a standing ovation when we made it back to auction. Food was o.k. guess I got spoiled with princess or something as I was not impressed, dont get me wrong it was edible and we certainly did not go hungry, I guess being a chocoholic I was really unpimressed with the desserts. also it was difficult to eat as the we were at the dingin room in the back of the ship and our table was at the very back, beautiful to watch but the movement seemed a bit much (we were wearing both patches and the pressure point bands) this boat seemd to move alot more than any other boat I have been on and we defiantly were not in any bad weather. the special dining resteraunt definatly worth the 25.00 and finially some good chocolate!!! great service!!! Fish & chips bar upstairs in rosies difinatily great!!! even DH who doesent like fish enjoyed Fish & chips there! I was also dissappointed as the day we left port later when we got back on the ship we missed our dinner seating so we went to rosies and there really wasent anything left to eat....we ended up with pizza, it just seemd to me that if you ar e leaving port later and people are later getting back on the ship they should have a bit more at rosies for dinner....but hey thats just me I guess. Chocolate dipped strawberries at the coffee/dessert shop were great and didnt break the wallet either!!! DH took 2nd palce in the valor idol so I guess that tells you what we did for entertainement and yes the kids have to be out of there by 11 but hey we are parents who cant stay up much past that anyway!!! stops were fine didnt get off the boat in nassau as we have been there before and didnt want to get off the boat for only a 5 hour stop. St thomas we love!!! DH did coki beach dive while DS & I snorkeled above him DS love it and had a blast. St martin did the taxi tour and enjoyed the tour got to finially see the french side as we missed that on our previous cruise there....also had to do a bit of shopping and get the guavaberry for margaritias!!! its so tasty!!! also walked to the beach after the shopping and collected shells (pretty selection though they are small and you do have to look hard!) and played in water. Days at sea were relaxing...I cant say much about kids camp as DS wanted to hang with us most of the time he even enjoyed the art auctions!!! go figure!!! overall good time may be heading back or hitting the miracle this august with both kids this time! Lady Hop Posted April 20, 2006 #208 Share Posted April 20, 2006 Speaking of decent chocolate....Valor will be our third Carnival Cruise. Why is most of the chocolate desserts mousse? Not a piece of chocolate cake to be found (with flour) for free anyway. I did see a beautiful chocolate cake at the coffee shop case near the casino but I guess I didnt want to have to pay for it....Cheap I know..... But as a tip and a question......Both Truimph and Glory had the best brownies through room service.....Does anyone know if Valor has them also? MamaParrotHead Posted April 20, 2006 #209 Share Posted April 20, 2006 But as a tip and a question......Both Truimph and Glory had the best brownies through room service.....Does anyone know if Valor has them also? They certainly do. The brownies come with some of the BEST chocolate chip cookies I've had. Beware if you order them with milk though, smell it before you drink it. DH made that mistake and got some sour milk (I think because probably they put the cartons out for meals, then put them away).
HollyfromSC Posted April 27, 2006 #210 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Does anyone know if the Valor has safes in each room? We are going on the Valor November 26,2006 with a big group. Several people were wondering if the rooms had safes. Thanks!!! Holly :o
MamaParrotHead Posted April 27, 2006 #211 Share Posted April 27, 2006 I'm 99% sure ALL of them do, I know atleast for certain OV rooms and above do.
mimomf2 Posted April 27, 2006 #212 Share Posted April 27, 2006 Hi Holly, Yes, the Valor has a safe in each room. You program it with any magnetic-strip card. The one you lock it with is the same one you unlock it with. You can use your S/S card. We used a grocery-store frequent shopper card. Ann

The disco will be open... it closes late, around 3... depending on how many people are in there. The pools close early... no late night swimming, sorry!!! It tends to get boring after the disco closes. If you head back to the pizza bar, you will find the stragglers from the disco :D

The hot tubs (certain ones) stay open a little later. Those with adults only hot tubs stay open until midnight...
Hawaii697 Posted May 8, 2006 #220 Share Posted May 8, 2006 Hey all. Glad I came across this thread. I just booked my 4th Group cruise aboard the Valor. I'm excited since this our 10 year wedding annivesary :) we hope to have the same group of 43 people that sailed with us last year on the Destiny help us celebrate on the Valor. I'm also surprising my husband with a cabin with a wraparound balcony. Let the researching begin. :D

southwardbound Posted May 10, 2006 #225 Share Posted May 10, 2006 We had a great time on our first cruise with Valor. We never had a problem finding a deck lounge chair and the ship was full. Go to the front of the ship in front of Camp Carnival. It is quiet, and not windy at all. We loved the soft serve ice cream, the fish and chips, and the pizza. Dinner in the Washington Room was also very fun. You can order more than one dessert if you can't decide....:) We also really enjoyed the magician and the joggling act. We found the Valor to be very clean and fun atmosphere! Have a great cruise!
